Summary

The second book in the beloved and globally best-selling Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shonda Rhimes for Netflix. Welcome to Anthony's story....

1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, This Author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London's most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry. And in all truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better....

Lady Whistledown's Society Papers, April 1814

Anthony Bridgerton needs a wife. Having spent his 20s in a rakish pursuit of pleasure (whilst taking care to ensure the financial security of his mother and seven younger siblings and mother) he knows it's high time he settled down and ensured the continuation of the Bridgerton line. Edwina Sheffield is considered the most beautiful debutante of the current season. She is also sweet, innocent and eminently biddable - Anthony is sure she'll make a perfectly acceptable wife and vows to make her his.

The only obstacle in his way is Edwina's older sister, Kate. Kate is determined to do all she can to allow her sister the chance to marry for love rather than convenience. And the roguish viscount is beginning to think he may have met his match in Kate's keen wit and sharp tongue. Until, that is, he makes the mistake of kissing her....

Fantastic Escapism!

Having watched Bridgeton on Netflix I was intrigued by the books, so I decided to give them a go, and I’m so glad I did! What an amazing book and form of escapism!

grew on me

nearly returned it, but gradually got into it. Struggled the whole way through with the way the narrator used a silly deep voice for the men. Enjoyed it, but not sure I'd listen to another

Really well written and narrated

This book is the second in a series. It's really well written and the narration is great too. Considering the author is American she has really nailed the British aristocratic way of life and must have done plenty of research.
I really enjoyed listening to it. And it's fantastic to know the storyline before the TV searies season 2 comes out!
Emotional, funny and with an added bit of heat.
I'd recommend.

In love with Kate, but Anthony has some serious red flags - even after the redemption arch,

Kate and Anthony are end game. Can't wait for season 2 on Netflix. I hope they don't ruin this incredible story

Engaging and enjoyable!

I really liked the story, the characters were brought to life well.
I had read mixed reviews of the narrator, but I thought she was brilliant and kept you listening.

A must read

Absolutely loved it. It was even better than The Duke and I, and I love how they have epilogues or after stories about when they're older. It really gives the reader some closure about the characters after the happily ever after.
