Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Visitor by Lee Child, read by Jeff Harding.
Sergeant Amy Callan and Lieutenant Caroline Cooke have a lot in common.
Both were army highflyers. Both were acquainted with Jack Reacher. Both were forced to resign from the service.
Now they're both dead.
Found in their own homes, naked, in a bath full of paint.
Apparent victims of an army man. A loner, a smart guy with a score to settle, a ruthless vigilante.
A man just like Jack Reacher.

Author Breaks Trust with His Readers
Any additional comments?
Any reader of a "who done it" expects plot twists. In fact they are crucial to an entertaining read. Lee Child abandons believability in this book. He provide's clues to the murder's identity that are totally bogus. I refer to the scene where the killer is described crossing a name off of a list and is interrupted by an army corporal. Bull shit to the whole story.

Interesting story with twists. Great narration.
Really enjoyed the plot, and the narrator was much better than that used in a previous version which I returned. Most memorable moment "......eyes went wide in sudden panic and then she died". Lots of good lines, characters clearly defined in the voices. This is really helpful.

Best teacher yet
I have heard all the Reacher books and enjoyed them all. But this is probably the best!

Agatha Christie-esque
This was a very well thought out story, but you have to stick with it right to the end for everything to fall into place, much like an Agatha Christie. Some early storyline seems overtly antagonistic between characters, but this fits into place (a bit better) later on. Not my favourite Reacher book, but well worth a read.

Really, really, poor ending.
Like any reader would, I spent the whole book wondering how he was going to reconcile the strange behaviour of some of the book characters. And he achieved it by assuming that his readers are all 9 years old. Not just any 9 year olds but the kind of naive half-stupid 9 year olds who still believe in ghosts and santa claus. I like the Reacher books but this was an insult to my intelligence, a real letdown.

Not my favourite so far
I personally like the action Reacher, so for me this story was lacking. However, good plot and usual clever writing. It won't put me off though, on to the next Reacher story.....

dissapointing
the story became less and less believable. The FBI could not have lied or manipulated in the way they supposedly did. This devalued the whole story.

my favourite reacher so far.
15+ graphic violence, moderate language, sexual assault references.
I'm a bit late to the party but I'm currently listening to all the Reacher books in order for the first time. This was the best so far, the plot is gripping and the mystery gradually unfolds like a christie story. unlike the previous books, the big bad is kept secret for the duration creating some genuine tension. The ending is a bit hoaky and the dialogue gets quite irritating in places, and on occasion the narration moves into 2nd person which makes no logical sense, however overall I thought it was a great read and I enjoyed it a lot.
