Summary

Your favorite dragon is back, and he's richer than ever!

Months have passed since Vainqueur Knightsbane, great calamity of his age and best dragon in the world, discovered the class system and adventurer lifestyle. More powerful than he has ever been, the great wyrm faces a new challenge: administering the lands he conquered.

At his side, his long-suffering minion Victor Dalton struggles to maintain peace in a country where taxes are illegal, angels sell insurance, and demons are the lawyers. Old enemies plot their revenge, and thieves slither in the dark.

Vainqueur better keep his vault locked at night!

Still great!!

This one took the things that made the first book good and shuffled them around to create the continuation of the story.

A great sequel

This was just a good book, more from Vainqueur and Victor and more laughs. There were themes of exploration and roguishness which were both entertaining. The characters had a lot more depth than before and I often made me laugh or smile. The narration was perfect.

Lots of stuff happening but an awesome read

The Year of the Rogues by Maxime J. Durand. So much happens in this book, it is hard to keep-up. Our favourite dragon 🐉 has defeated the lich to hoarde even more of his precious gold. Too many original ideas running simultaneously here but a great sequel 📚4/5🌟 #BookReview

Joint review for book 1 - 3

Since I listened to book 1-3 in one go, this review covers the first three books.
Quite fun series about the Best Dragon (his own opinion) who befriends a lowly human after waking from a long nap. While sleeping, the lowly humans has discovered leveling and quests. And most important for the dragon, the shiny gold coins completed quests will grant as reward.
Narration/Performance: With exception of the voice of the Dragon which felt artificial, the narration was overall good, and gave life and individuality to the different characters.
Story: A houmous take on LitRPG with just a few status updated along the way. These first three books do not quite manage to engage me enough to make me crave more. On the positive side, the side characters lift the listening experience.
After listening to the first three books, will I buy the fourth and last? Yes, mostly just to get the conclusion to Victors love life.

Still love this series

The story had got more serious but the core amusement of it all remains. Another wonderful installation in the series and I look forward to the next entry.

Gold as the Emperors hoard

Greatly adored this second book of the glorious Emperor Vainqueur and his sarcastic Chief of staff Victor.

Hilarious, witty, brilliant with its own inner and often bonkers logic and brought once again to full vivid life by Jack Voraces. The performance is still absolutely brilliant with each voice distinct and so fitting to each character.

was a delightful hilarious piece of entertainment. If you loved the first book I think others will greatly enjoy this romp back to the world of the V&V Empire.

Vainqueur best dragon!

I fell in love with the humor, the story and the characters.
Can't wait for more and think that the combination of author and narrator works fantastic.
For me, this is the perfect example why audio books can be more fun than reading yourself. Jack Voraces lifts this great story to the next level.

Very funny the couple of times that they forgot to add the effects though

Not near as first one

Less entertaining, more complex.
Vainquear became kinda clever...
No real big enemy, or near close call boss fights.

Lots of fun

A really fun book that doesn't take itself too seriously, whilst still maintaining an interesting plot. The varied characters are really brought to life by the narrator.
