It's not like they don't have enough to be dealing with. Assistant editor Hannah has come back from getting messily divorced to discover that someone is trying to kidnap a member of their staff, and while editor Vincent Banecroft would be delighted to see the back of any of his team, he doesn't like people touching his stuff - it's the principle of the thing.
Throw in a precarious plumbing situation, gambling debts, an entirely new way of swearing and a certain detective inspector with what could be kindly referred to as 'a lot of baggage' and it all adds up to another hectic week in the life of the newspaper committed to reporting the truth that nobody else will touch.

OMG now I've got to wait for the next one!!
I loved the first book but have to say this one is even better with the characters brought to life and back stories enlarged.

Great fun
Great fun with some laugh out loud moments. The Vincent Baincroft character is more benign Jackson Lamb from the Mick Herron Slough House books - rude, crewd with some killer put-downs. Top marks for the narrator who effortlessly juggles a dozen or more different accents.

This Charming Man
I loved the first book and thought it would be hard to beat but I was wrong this book is wonderful. It’s funny, moves along at a pace and I finished it in two sittings. Our hero’s are back and there’s vampires on the loose among other magical beasts…especially the talking dog!
Well read, well written and well worth my credit… hope there’s more to follow.

A good follow up!
Was really looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint. I don’t think it is as complete as the first novel however still enjoyed it. Right.. when’s the next coming!
