A murder mystery told entirely through interviews. Sit back and become a real armchair detective. PI Elizabeth Chalice needs you to help her solve the case.

One Body. Twelve Suspects.

Twelve motives for murder....

A murder mystery told entirely through interviews.

Private Investigator Elizabeth Chalice needs YOU to help her solve this case.

It's a beautiful day in Como, and the Caswell-Jones family are surrounded their nearest and dearest in their Villa Janus. But when Jonty Caswell-Jones is found dead in his study, it is clear the only suspects are the guests and the family. It seems all this time, tensions have been brewing, guests seething, and rivalries have reared their ugly head....

Jonty's wife, Catherine, knows there's a killer among them so she calls her acquaintance, Elizabeth Chalice, to investigate. She wants to keep this firmly within the family if she can. No one else must know.

As each suspect is interviewed in turn, Elizabeth must work out who killed Jonty and why. And is anyone else in danger? But with twelve suspects each with their own very clear motive, anything is possible....

A gem!

The actors in this are wonderful , their performances are like playhouse theatre. Elizabeth the Detective draws you in and includes you as part of the audience.

Enjoyable and fun

This was a really lucky find for me. The ebook came up as a sale notification from Kobo for 99p but I noticed that the audiobook "immersive experience" was pushed in the synopsis, and comparing the text and audio version I felt that it was one of those odd books where the format would work better in audio. It really does and I don't think I could have read it as a book, the epistolary style doesn't work for me.

All of the voice acting was excellent, not overdone and it felt very natural with nice dramatic extras like door knocks, footsteps etc that were done in a professional way that didn't overtake the speech. It was nice to have clearly separate characters read by different narrators, like a dramatisation.

The book was slightly quirky and set in 50s with post-war upper middle class attitudes. Everything flowed well but strangely, I didn't overly like the detective, I felt she had smug attitudes. I can't say I was surprised by the reason and the killer, it was strongly foreshadowed, but I didn't feel that it mattered because I was eager to see if I was right, I became quite engrossed by it.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Loved this book, great plot which unveils tips on all the characters through out and builds the back story intriguingly. All the characters had brilliant stories and the production was excellent. Recommend this book, great entertainment.

Absolute Drivel

Story is woeful, performance poor, no plot at all, characters wooden and full of questionable comments. As a book I think this would be very boring to read the audio leads well to the layout of the book it's like a podcast in some ways but the plot isn't really a plot I knew what had happened from around the second chapter, Elizabeth has to be the very worse character I hated how she talked to the "reader" to set up ideas that came from no where. Overall this was a big nope from me.

Don't bother

This was really rubbish, every single character was clichéd awfulness and the twist at the ending, you see coming a mile away. Really amateurish.

Fun

Good fun listen and well narrated

The denouement was a bit far fetched but overall would certainly listen to another by the author

Waited 8 hours for...

All the episodes were fairly gripping full of information to gather in this Murder Mystery.

Very disappointed in the ending though that nothing from the previous episodes really made up who the killer was or why - lots of extra bits that weren't covered at all!

A Vile Group of People

An annoying detective is called to solve a murder among a group of people that you would be happy to kill yourself.

The story is a standard Agatha Christie knock-off but the format is awful. We, the listener, are addressed by the detective as though we are there. However, we are occasionally sent to a different part of the house while the text follows the detective so we learn what she sees not what we see. It's all very clunky.

I'd have given this a miss if I knew then what I know now.
