Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Wars of the Roses: Trinity, the second instalment in Conn Iggulden's thrilling Wars of the Roses trilogy.

1454: King Henry VI has remained all but exiled in Windsor Castle, struck down by his illness for over a year, his eyes vacant, his mind a blank. His fiercely loyal wife and Queen, Margaret of Anjou, safeguards her husband's interests, hoping that her son Edward will one day know the love of his father.

Richard Duke of York, Protector of the Realm, extends his influence throughout the kingdom with each month that Henry slumbers. The Earls of Salisbury and Warwick make up a formidable trinity with Richard, and together they seek to break the support of those who would raise their colours in the name of Henry and his Queen. But when the King unexpectedly recovers his senses and returns to London to reclaim his throne, the balance of power is once again thrown into turmoil.

The clash of the Houses of Lancaster and York will surely mean a war to tear England apart . . .

Fantastic

Fantastic historical novel showing the diplomacy and brutality of the time and wonderfully narrated- the historical notes explain any slight inaccuracies in historical fact - recommended

Great story

It is no mean feat to make the Wars of the Roses comprehensible and exciting in equal measure but Conn Iggulden certainly achieves this. The narration is superb.
This second instalment is only slightly marred as an audiobook by the repetition of a line of text on three separate occasions and the irritating speed with which the end of a chapter is followed by the announcement of the next.

Brilliant story!

Criticism first...the announcement of the next chapter often comes with little or no pause before the last words of the previous, almost as if it said as one sentence...not intensely annoying...but annoying all the same. Also occasionally a sentence is repeated. Morris work in the editing suite needed!

But that's about the only criticism. The character development is spot on, historical factual gaps are dealt with in a realistic and believable way and any discrepancies from historical fact cleared up in the end note. These do not detract from the quality of the story either.

I found the pace and tone of the narration thoroughly engaging with the characterisation and speech inflections bringing to life and individualising the various personalities.

Definitely will buy the next...Conn is fast becoming a new favorite author!!!

Excellent book and narration

If you could sum up Wars of the Roses: Trinity in three words, what would they be?

Entertaining, Enjoyable, Action

What did you like best about this story?

I have read the other books and I have enjoyed them all but it is the first one as an audiobook and it is more interesting this way. The story is well know but the author makes it is own and therefore I've not been bored one minute

What does Roy McMillan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Excellent choice of narrator for this sort of story, he does a great job with the different characters

better than book 1. simply excellent.

conn iggulden is as good as or better than bernard cornwell. where Mr Cornwell's detailed descriptions cannot be faulted, Mr iggulden tells a much better story. and Roy McMillan brings the characters to life.

Good but not as good

I was really excited for this book and have already purchased the next two however I felt that after stormbird this was a little of a let down the character development was not as good and the established characters that you had begin to love and loathe in the first book were not really expanded on.

a minor point which I found annoying was the gap between the last word of the chapter and the naming of the following chapter it should of been held for an extra 1/2 a second to stop the immediate run in.

i hope the next books prove me wrong but at the moment this series is not looking as good as the Genghis or emperor series which in my opinion are super.

Amazing series.

I gave the 1st book in this amazing series a 5 star rating as well.
If I was able to give a higher rating for Trinity, I would do so.
Conn Iggulden is a true master in this field, and Roy McMillan is one of the finest narrators in the business.
Needless to say I am starting Blood Line, the 3rd book in the series with immediate effect.
