  • Interchanges Between Autism and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

    Travis talks about how Autism combines and interchanges with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder to magnify the perseverative thinking that autistic people typically have. When combining OCD with autism people can become hyper-focused on one particular subject or person. This hyper-focus can either be healthy if it is a positive special interest or it can be unhealthy if it is a negative special interests.


    Travis discusses the differences between obsessions, fixations, and special interests. He talks about how positive special interests lead to good mental health and negative special interests lead to poor mental health. The opposite is true that poor mental health leads to negative special interests and good mental health leads to positive special interests.


    Travis shares personal stories and provides practical advice on dealing with co-morbid OCD with autism spectrum disorder. Travis introduces you top deep breathing exercises and discusses the technique called "dive" which is meant to reduce anxiety and OCD thinking.
