About this listen
Emma Gordon escapes from a troubling marriage in which she has completely lost sight of who she is. Desperate for independence, she leaves her husband while on a trip in the Scottish Highlands. The only thing is, she ends up hurled back in time to the 16th-century Castle Gealach.
Laird Logan Grant is tormented by a dark past and harbors a secret that could tear his country apart. Unable to resist Emma's beauty and the calm that she invokes, Logan confesses he desires her.
Despite her own reservations, Emma longs to get close to Logan, even while she is desperate to return to her own era. In the end, she embarks on a daring, passionate affair that rocks her to the very core.

it's different
I didn’t realise that the book is in parts, so this is part one... I only realised at the end when listening to the recommended books from Audible!
As I wasn't aware that it was in parts, I did think that the ending was abrupt with nothing having been resolved... because it is in parts, my rating was higher, however having seen how many parts it's split into, I'm not sure that I'll bother reading the rest as I can't say that it gripped me that much!
For the narrators, the male narrator was fine, I've listened to him in a few other things, the female narrator, however I did find a bit grating... I have no idea if she's putting on the accent, but it just felt forced & I did start dreading it when she came on...
As for the story, I did like the concept & I did like the main characters, however the heroine was a bit of a drama queen (I'm not talking about the recovering from trauma bit), she's a time traveller who has no idea if she'll disappear at any moment, but was constantly seeking assurance of the hero's feelings, which did irritate me a bit.
I would've understood if she'd gone with the flow & when it was obvious that she wasn't going anywhere, then she'd start questioning the status of their relationship not 3 days after & throwing a fit because he can't say he loves her after knowing her less than a week!
He treated her with the utmost respect, saw to ALL of her needs ;), clothed her, bathe her, had his servants be at her beck & call, gave her guards, gave her free rein in the keep, etc... all this without knowing her from Adam, yet she still expects way more.
Also her endangering several men's lives to pluck flowers did strike me as unbelievably self-centered & selfish!
So, I was a bit torn when it came to the heroine... I felt for what she went through in her past, but can't say I liked her present self that much!

The narration is cringeworthy
Could they not find one single Scottish voice actor? The narration was so terrible it ruined a perfectly fine time travel story, it was a real shame. I found speeding up playback helped, but it was a very difficult time getting through this. Just awful.

Behind The Plaid
The narration of the story was very nice. It kept me revertive in continuing listening to the story.

Loved it
Loved the story. But can't say the same about the female narrator, she grated on my nerves. It was as though, for Logans voice, he was whispering all the time. I like Anthony Fergusons narrating very much though. It would have been much better with just him narrating. I didn't understand why they had a female and a male narrator if they both still narrated female and male voices. I would have thought that they would voice each gender respectfully, Anthony Ferguson the male voices and the female narrator the female voices. But I enjoyed the story anyway. Its very hot and steamy, just the way I like them. Love Eliza Knights books. But unfortunately the next one is with the same narrators not just Anthony Ferguson which I would have preferred.
