About this listen
Amir wants to meet a guy outside of a bar. Kinzi wants someone who won't cheat on him. Vico just wants a quick lay. In Gateway, when you need to meet someone, there's no one better than sexy, flirty Hayward to get you just what you want - or at least have a good time trying. But when Hayward himself needs someone, who will be there to help?

One of Kyell Gold's best works
If you enjoyed Waterways or any other of Kyell Gold's works, rest assured that Bridges will provide you an amazing and intriguing emotional rollercoaster that subtly draws you into the plot, while giving you enough subplots to keep it from being a one way slog.
Having Kyell Gold himself narrate the book really brings the characters to life as he uses the voices with the particular tone and emphasis that he had in mind while writing the book. The performance he delivers manages to make each line of dialogue have more impact than the original written dialogue.
In regards to the content of the book, I enjoyed this just less so than Waterways (my favourite book, period) but more so than Out of Position (which is told around football, a sport I have little interest in). Unlike Green Fairy or other such works, this book is grounded entirely in reality (that is, reality inhabited by anthropomorphic characters) and focuses on regular people, much like Waterways. I'll avoid spoiling anything about the book here, the first three chapters essentially recap over the same event from different perspectives, this can be a bit of a slog admittedly even considering how much I love this book. But as soon as this passes and the chapters begin to focus on the here and now, an incredible story begins to unravel and enthrall you, one that had been hiding in plain sight throughout. Gold makes great use of foreshadowing throughout, in a manner almost reminiscent of Fight Club. By the time everything comes together, Gold picks up all the momentum he builds up and delivers revelations in short, slick and killer reveals. A single line from Gold can leave your jaw hanging and your mind wishing he would read the next page faster!
By the time you hear the final few beautiful pages, you'll have been taken on an emotional journey comparable to Waterways and will surely leave a lasting impact from the finale, and perhaps even a few tears rolling from your eyes. Overall, my second favourite work from Kyell Gold and a fantastic book to listen to and get invested in.
