About this listen
Have you ever heard of the old Celtic legends of the Fae - beautiful, magical, deadly, and a love of messing with humans just for kicks and giggles?
Welcome to my world.
What started out as a strange assignment leads to one of the most gruesome murder mysteries of our time, and my friends and I are set and determined to find out who is killing off Fae and Witches alike.
Couple of problems in the way - I hate the Fae, and the Prince of the Dark Fae is bound and determined that I work for him. He’s a rude, overbearing, egotistical ass with a compulsive need to possess, dominate, and control me. Oh - did I mention that he is absolutely sex-on-a-stick gorgeous and he makes me feel things that I never ever wanted to feel for a Fae.... Every time he touches me or looks at me with those golden eyes, he seems to pull me further in under his spell, despite my better judgment.
My friends and I can’t trust anyone, and nothing is as it seems on the surface - not even me.
Warning: Mature content and language not intended for anyone under the age of 18.
This audiobook is not intended for anyone under the age of 18, or anyone who doesn't like lip biting, throw-your-ass-on-the-bed, tear-your-clothes-off-and-leave-you-panting dominant alpha male characters. This is a dark, dangerous, intense, gritty, and raw audiobook. Scenes are dark, disturbing, and scorching-hot. This is a soul-crushing, tear-jerking, and leave-you-hanging-on-the-edge-of-your-seat fast-paced audiobook. Side effects may include, but are not limited to: drooling, lip biting, wet panties, crying, and screaming at the author. If any of these things happen, do not seek medical attention - get the next book in the series and enjoy the ride!

Exciting start to the Fae Chronicles
I’m just getting to this audiobook and found it in my long TBL.
It’s an amazing, fast paced story of Cynthia who thinks she is a witch finding herself along the way and doing so with a alpha Fae prince Ryder taking her along on an exciting trip of who done it situation and who is who thrilling book. I’m loving this BUT it ends here and they are many books in the series with only this first one on Audible😳. This is like hanging a carrot in front of a rabbit and then holding-it from the rabbit indefinitely. Aghast over that. Thankfully I was gifted this audiobook and will just need to put it away until there’s more audiobooks available. I was desperate and even looked into the books but they are expensive so I’m going to try waiting for the audiobooks.
Narration was spot on. Sarah showcases Cynthia or Cyn as one bad ass fighter who stands up for what she believes in and does the males really well also. Stephen Dexter was new to me and I try found his gruff and take no sh*t attitude come through really well for Ryder. Just wish the next books were available 🥺

Paranormal Romance with an actual storyline
Overall: I enjoyed it and finished the almost 13 hours in 3 days. I'm going to go get the next book now.
Story: A good story that does end on a cliffhanger. Decent worldbuilding and various interesting situations that the characters end up in while attempting to solve the main problem. There are some gory, sad, and violent scenes, so this isn't a 'feel-good' romance but is closer to a fantasy novel. There is a decent level of good steam without the steam being more important than the actual story.
Characters: The main character (Synthia) has an actual backstory that influences her decisions and there is character development in this paranormal romance! (WOOHOO!) Synthia is one of those 'tortured' heroines and is rather likeable. She doesn't need rescuing. Ryder is someone who you can't decide if you want to hate or love. There are quite a few unanswered questions about their backstories even when the book ends.
Narrators: As usual, I really enjoy Sarah Puckett. I actually chose this audiobook partly because it was just Sarah Puckett who was the main female narrator. Stephen Dexter was better than usual; he spoke at a decent speed and mostly only had to keep track of one character. Sarah Puckett could have done the entire audiobook and it would likely have been better and more consistent.

Definitely didn't expect this
Wow. This book was way better than I anticipated being. Maybe I was judging the book by its cover? But the story was so rich and entertaining. In this world, everyone is aware of the paranormal. The fae, especially, are on every news network. Luckily the witches are a little more secretive so they have more privacy. The Dark Fae Prince is set to marry the Light Fae Princess but she is being targeted. Her picture is found defiled at crime scenes where fae and witches alike are being murdered for different body parts. Ryder, the dark fae prince, hired Cynthia's guild and her personal coven to look into the murders. Cynthia hates the fae for personal reasons and has reserves about working with them but since witches are involved also, she decides to work with them. Obviously, there is way more that happens but I don't like writing spoiler reviews so you'll just have to wait and find out. This story was honestly so interesting. The author did a fantastic job in brining a plot into this romance novel. It was definitely a different approach to the romance in this novel also. The fae feed while they have sex. So, when they need to feed, they just do the deed. And Ryder is determined to get Cynthia which caused interesting scenes. I loved the pacing of this novel and it ran so smoothly together. This book was such a success that I cannot wait to continue this series.
I absolutely loved these characters. Cynthia was honestly such a bad ass character that her consistent whining never bothered me... and she did complain a good amount. Her character development was so fantastic though. I really found myself attached to her. Then the attraction that sizzled between her and Ryder was unbelievable. This was an ultimate enemies to lovers trope but I don't know if they really ever got out of the enemy zone. Ryder was an interesting character. While his chapters don't really seem much other than explaining how much he wants to make Cynthia his, it shows that there is more to his character than we know. The side characters were just as amazing also. I felt connected to each one and wanted to know more. The next book will definitely be interesting with the revelations that were given at the end of the book.
Overall, Fighting Destiny was a wonderfully plotted book. Along with the very well written plot, there were plenty of steamy moments also. The author definitely didn't skimp on those parts. I loved the characters and what they brought to this story. I highly recommend this book if your looking for a new twist on the paranormal world with a lot of sexual tension.
Narration Review
Sarah Puckett does it again. She is seriously such an amazing narrator and I have loved everything she has done so far. Stephen Dexter did a fantastic job also. Even though he didn't have much narration he was the perfect voice for Ryder. This is definitely an audio I would recommend.

Sooo Good!! Need more Ryder!
I absolutely loved every single minute of this audiobook, it was exciting, adventurous, steamy and chock full of twists and turns. Both the plot and the characters were perfectly developed. Synthia is a remarkable heroine; she is smart, independent, crazy fierce with remarkable abilities. Ryder is a true alpha male, super hot, dominant, powerful, and cunning. Ryder and Syn are marvellous together, their chemistry is off the charts and utterly potent. Both characters have a stubborn streak and know how to get under each other's skin.
Amelia Hutchins is an exceptional storyteller with a brilliant imagination and the ability to enthral her readers. She has created a fantastic world of Fae, witches, and magic. Hutchins writes incredible steamy scenes, they are wicked and scorching-hot.
The narration by Sarah Puckett and Stephen Dexter was great. Most of the narration was done by Sarah Puckett. I enjoyed her performance; she injected emotion into her reading and giving life to the characters. Stephen Dexter has a deep masculine voice and his performance as Ryder is crazy good.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and eagerly anticipating the release of the second book. I highly recommend Fighting Destiny. This is the best Fae book I've read or listened to in a very long time. Lastly, heed the warnings, this book is gritty, dark, sweltering and completely on fire.
