About this listen
It’s the year 2004 A.D.
Juandre
At twenty-two, my existence was crusty. It was a Friday afternoon when I was racing like the Red Queen down the interstate from New York to Lexington, Kentucky, feeling like I would never reach my destination and, simultaneously, reluctant to start my life as a straight-married man and a father-to-be. When I crossed the bridge at the Ohio River, I swung my sexy sports car over to the first R&G (rainbow and glitter) establishment for a martini or three. One olive turned into several before I returned to the highway, wired and waving off my newfound besties, whom I will probably never see again. Their enthusiastic motivational pep talks convinced me to take a chance, find the man of my dreams and ask for what I wanted.

What a listen!
I really liked Juandre’s sassy character in New Beginnings, so I was excited to hear a little more about how he and Andrew originally met.
If you’ve read/listened to New Beginnings, this one is pre-doomsday, so it was interesting to see who they were as people before this.
Jonathan Waters did a great job of narrating again.
Also, I can forgive the very abrupt ending, but only because I know there’s hope of finding out more in the next book!
A great little read/listen if you want that extra context to the characters of New Beginnings.

Juandre is a firecracker 🧨
Jonathan Waters captured their personalities perfectly. So much sexy times, but written so that it never bored me. The narrator highlighted the humor and gave a performance like no other. Adding this author and narrator to my fav list!

Practically perfect
This little short gives us a brief view into the life of an upcoming character in this series. I will say I hope he gets nicer because he seems mean, at least how he treats the other main character in this. Of course his objective is only to answer some questions about his own sexuality and experience some things for the first time. As far as he knows the guy is married and he’ll never see him again. He is set to marry a woman so it’s understandable. He is also quite spoiled I think as the parents are rich but very religious and not at all tolerant. It was quite good for it’s length and left me asking questions about certain oddities that I’ll only get the answers to when I listen to the next book tomorrow. The story had great flow and I’m very much looking forward to digging into the next one. This narrator was new to me but I quite liked his performance and shall be adding him to my list of narrators I will actually listen to.!
