About this listen

J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood novels have introduced readers/listeners to a "different, creative, dark, violent, and flat-out amazing" (All About Romance) world.

Now, as the vampire warriors defend their race against their slayers, one male's loyalty to the Brotherhood will be tested - and his dangerous mixed blood revealed.

Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood - even though his sister is married to a member - for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world: Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him - and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.

Action packed

This book is full of action and adventures. With more insight into the lesser society. It really does build on the existing storyline. I can’t wait for the next book.

Awesome Story.

It’s a mix bag of delicious skittles … everything happening all at the same time in Rhevenge’s story.

Multiple characters bringing this fantastic collage to life. “Lover Avenge” is my favourite story because Rhevenge is my favourite pimp/gangster/drug lord.

I mean the dude wears Armani suits 😍🥰 he’s a boss baby 🤣 scratch that… He’s A King. Let me do a quick a low curtsy 🤣🤣🤣. Command me at your will, Sire Mine.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is one of the best vampire series out here. The boys and their antics is hilariously funny & refreshingly dope. J. R. Ward gave birth to a world that has truly become addictive. And there’s nothing for it.

Btw … It says much of my mental health state (giggling) that I would, out of all the Brothers be totally attracted to the “Mob Boss…”
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Heaven Forbid! 😩 I’m so lost … in him … totally!!

I loved his story, simply because considering he’s the big bad wolf, his story was the sweetest, most romantic swoon-worthy out of all of the BDB. 🙌
It was that unexpected contrast…
I think I’m in love 😍

Awful Reader

These books by JR Ward on the Brotherhood Series are phenominal and worthy of your time. You will fall in love with all of the Vampire brothers and their mates as you learn about the likes and dislikes and all their idiosyncrasses, but not by this reader. Jim Frangi sounds like a 1950's British Colonial Officer and the story is set in America's Town of Cadwell. The brothers listen to Gangster Rap, Hip-Hop and the like and are often heard to use black american Slang speech, so you can imagine how awful that sound coming from a British Colonial accent! I had bought 3 audible downloads of the brotherhood series and was appalled by the reader's accent, I just couldn't stand hearing him 'Hash' the dialogue in these books and am clueless as to who passed his submission to read for these unique books!! Buy these books to read if your're interested but stear clear of the audible versions you'll be sorely annoyed.

Meandering and dull

This series of books has been on my radar for years, but it has never been on Audible. I was surprised when I recently stumbled across it on here, but was confused why it only started at book 7. I looked it up on Goodreads to find out if I could start at that book, or whether I’d be lost without the preceding books, and I couldn’t really find an answer. So I thought I’d give it a go because you can always return it and get your credit back if you don’t like it.

Sad to say I’m returning this book. It was a rambling meandering jumble. There was the potential for good stuff in there, but it was buried in waffle. So many parallel story lines and points of view going on, which can be very clever when done well, but I just found myself incredibly bored. There’s lots of links to previous books so I would say you need to have read the earlier books in the series to really enjoy it, especially with the world building and character history.

Even if I take the fact that I didn’t read the previous books out of the equation with my rating, this book was still underwhelming. I literally fell asleep many times and had to rewind to where I left off, then would groan at the hours and hours left showing on my screen and it felt like torture to carry on. It seems like they need a good editor to pull it together as it could be a great series I’m sure.

The narrator was ok, but slightly annoying. Don’t know if it was the author’s tendency to shorten words to sound cool, like ‘sitch’ for situation and ‘gen pop’ for general population that was incredibly cringeworthy and unnecessary, or the narrator’s delivery of those phrases. Or both. Whatever it was, it didn’t work.

I’ll get my credit back for this book and I’m off to find my next listen. Let’s hope it’s better!
