About this listen
When Princess Guendolen’s privileged existence is shattered by tribal war and the threat of rape impends, she is left with no choice but to surrender her virginity to a lowly commoner. The spoiled sovereign expects a night of torment and shame. Instead, her unlikely bedfellow introduces her to a world of carnal delights.
Prince Taran, dreaded leader of the savage Picts, approaches. He plans to pluck Guendolen’s prized maidenhead. Once she carries his heir, he will claim her father’s throne. King Cedric hatches a frantic scheme. His daughter must lie with one of their own. Better a Briton babe growing in her womb than a Pictish one. With every last man fighting on the battlefield, there is only one lad who is available for such a task, and that is Phalen, her childhood nemesis.
Mysterious as he is defiant, the adopted son of the village blacksmith has little interest in Guendolen’s beauty and considers the overindulged “jewel of the kingdom” to be a royal pain in the rear. Sparks fly each time they meet. On the fated night, Guendolen does her best to obstruct Phalen from carrying out his orders, but what starts out as an act of duty soon turns into an evening of passion.
Our hero and heroine reunite two years later. She, having given birth to his son; and he, having returned from battle - now a formidable warrior. Under constant pressure from her father to marry, Guendolen agrees to wed the father of her bastard child, whose touch she still wears like a brand. The elusive Phalen continues to rile the princess with his taunting gaze, denying her the attention she craves in and out of the bedchamber. Will she ever be able to win the favor of this dark and brooding man?

Princess Fight for Love
I received this audiobook free for an honest review. Taking place during the King/Queen era, Guendolen is a spoiled princess who thinks only of herself. When she falls in love, she has to prove to the lowly father of her child that she cares for more than her beautiful self. The back and forth between both these lovers is aggravating but very hot. The narrator with her English accent did a great job with the male and female characters.

Frustrating and Satisfying
I was surprised how the author connects the characters in this enemies to lovers romance. There is a twist that just really caught me off guard. I would have liked for Guendolen to be less whiney and superficial; but when I think about it, it is more a cry for attention than anything. She does make herself useful and change in ways that I found to be redeeming for her character. I did also find myself frustrated with Prince Taran as well, with how cold hearted he seemed. It was a frustrating as well as enjoyable listen though and I was satisfied with how things end. A great story.
The narrator gave an excellent performance and was a great fit for the setting of this book. She definitely brought out the character's personality traits well and did a great job with the older language used throughout the book.

Great listen
Another great story written by Tessa Bowen. Love the opposites attract aspect of the story. The narration was good with the female narrator doing a great job of both female and male voices.

The heartless marauder!
The story about a spoiled princess who finds herself being given away to a lowly blacksmith. The King planned this for her not to be taken by the Picts prince and thus losing his reign. Little do they know, the Prince is the most cunning of them all. I was a bit put down by the princess. She was way too shallow. But she grows some with the Prince’s ignoring her in a land where she is a stranger and also the enemy. I did like the end though.

Great settings
This was my first pirate book and I must say I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t as harsh as I thought it would be. And yet again Tessa has a way of making me fall in love with the pirate! Fantastic writing skills.

Britons Jewel
I had a hard time liking the heroine due to her entire focus being on image. I have to give her props though for constantly putting herself out there to a husband that constantly puts her down. The hero was very alpha and he gave us some great steamy scenes but he was also extremely rude and hard to like. A little too blunt and cold for me. There was a sub plot of the Britons and Picts fighting that was very good to the story line. To simplify, I believe this is a story trying to turn enemies into lovers. The narrator did a fantastic job of going at a great pace. She also put a lot of emotion into each character, bringing them to life.

Brilliant!
This is a very enjoyable and excellently written historical, enemies to lovers romance. The storyline is riveting; loaded with drama, love, passion, hate, and betrayal. Just when you think you know what direction, the story is taking, there is a surprising twist, altering the course of the plot. Tessa Bowen is an exceptional storyteller; she captivates the readers/listener with her imagination, witty writing, and dialogue. The characters are unique, fascinating, engaging, and at times utterly frustrating, as it's intended.
The main characters have very distinct personalities with varying qualities and views, generating conflict. Princess Guendolen has lived a privileged life, she is superficial, has been idolized, and doted on all her life. The hero, Prince Taran, is a hard man, an alpha, and a great warrior who doesn't care much for shallowness, placing him at odds with Guendolen. Together, they have an explosive connection and sizzling chemistry. The intimate scenes are well-written, sensual and steamy.
The narration by Virginia Ferguson is outstanding. She does an incredible job bringing the story to life, honing in on each character simulating their personalities. Overall, The Marauder is a marvellously entertaining listen, and I can't wait for the second book in the series

Old time historical
Virginia Ferguson does an amazing job with this audiobook. I was throughly into and invested in this audiobook that I couldn’t stop to let it down until I finished this audiobook.
Guendolen is infacuted with her baby daddy Phalen but what happens when Prince Taran reveals a twist to this story. You need to listen to see who she lets into her heart. Taran is one tough guy can he win Guendolen heart or is it too late for this enemies to love style book.
I was gifted a copy of this book. And found it detailed and sexy throughout this audiobook. Definitely need to hear more books in this series.

Another hit
Tessa Bowen does it again. I’m not good at reviews but this is well worth what ever way you get it. Opposites attract, pirates 😉 I love that he isn’t a pushover for her attitude etc. . I found myself laughing out loud and that’s always a good thing, a roller coaster ride of goodness , great narration by Virginia Ferguson too. Quick read and could keep listening. On to the next book by T. B.
I got a code for this book , but would definitely recommend it !

Great story opposites attract
This is the first story I’ve read/listened to written by Tessa and narrated by Virginia and I’m glad I had the chance to listen to The Marauder. 2 complete opposite personalities couldn’t have been more perfect for each other as I believe Gwendolyn and Taran were. The story started out a bit weird but as I kept listening I got into it. Virginia did an amazing job voicing the different characters and letting the reader know that someone new was speaking.
