T.J. Manrique enjoyed reading from a young age. His uncle gave him a Jules Verne book at 10, which started a torrid love affair with Science Fiction. He also enjoyed novels by Ian Fleming and Agatha Christie, among others. He was mesmerized by the B&W TV serials Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon. He found Star Trek in the late 60s and knew it was love. He was in college when Star Wars came out and his professors cemented his enthusiasm for the genre by having Sand People and Jawas be the subjects of his genetics midterms. Heinlein, Herbert, McCaffrey, Asimov and others guided him through amazing worlds. Jaws was one of the first monster movies he saw, but not his last. Analyzing the anatomy and biomechanics of the xenomorphs form Alien and their relation to humans was a natural progression. His degrees in Biochemistry and Pharmacology were the foundation for his career in Marketing and Sales of Disposable Medical products. After over 40 years of work in business, he’s currently retired and lives in Florida with his wife and youngest daughter where he is finally indulging in his passion for reading and writing.
