宿場の場庭へ、母親に手を曳かれた男の子が入って来た。そして田舎紳士がやってきた。なかなか馬車は出ない。
馭者は饅頭が蒸し上がるのを待っていた。やっと馬車が出て、中で田舎紳士は饒舌に語り、男の子は外を見てる。
饅頭を食べた馭者は居眠りを始めた。
