Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Not one thing happens.
Ok let me first of all day that I am a huge fan of Sarah J. Maas and I have read every A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) and Throne of Glass book (Some allot more than once). I intend to review them all but thought I’d start with the one I didn’t like. So here goes… Why on earth was this book released as a standalone title and not just a few chapters in A Court of Silver Flames? Because nothing happens in it worth writing about and all it seems to do is set up the next book so that Nesta can be the protagonist. If I had picked it up as my first Sarah J. Maas book and wasn’t already invested in the series, then I would have missed out on some glorious stories as I wouldn’t have picked up another of her books! So if you are new to this author and decide to miss this book on my recommendation I implore you, make sure you give the Throne of Glass series a read and the other ACOTAR books because they are fantastic!

Utterly boring
I loved the original trilogy and characters and was excited for this small extra to see how a couple of narratives developed. I was very disappointed. There was no development in the narratives, there was lots of extra narratives that were started with no development or finish. I was excited by the prospect of stories from the perspective of other characters, but then they were written in third person rather than first person, so you didn't get a full perspective on how they were feeling. I was honestly bored, Unless you really care about what they got each other for Christmas then I would actually recommend giving this a pass as it brings down the rest of the stories. 6 hours of them tediously pottering about their days, 20 minutes of anything actually interesting.

Too Fluffy
I really enjoyed the main ACOTAR trilogy but I left it a few months before I decided to read this one. I needed a book with Star in the title for my Astronomy OWL so I thought now was the perfect time to pick this up.
This book picks up a few months after the end of A Court of Wings and Ruin. The gang are trying to rebuild Prythian from the aftermath of the war with Hybern and preparing for the Winter Solstice.
I enjoyed this catch up with Feyre and the others but it was all too happy. I know, I know it doesn’t always have to be doom and gloom but there was no twist, no big drama, just a family fight that has been long brewing.
I didn’t hate it. I just wanted something a bit more. The other three books were so epic that this one just fell a little flat. It was all too fluffy for me.

A Nice Setting Novella
From all the books I have found this was the most settled one, allowing us to make room for the spin off novellas for the other characters in the series. Sarah J Maas has an excellent way to create character development and she does this in ACOFAS so well that the Maasians of the world are all in hope for a Cassian and Nesta spinn off! The world needs to see that world and know how it develops

You can skip it
It was rather eventless and boring. A recap on how everyone is doing and feeling and very little has changed. I also agree with the comments that the focus on Feyre and Rhysand becomes repetitive now after so many books and other characters should take the spotlight.

What a delightful novella!
Sarah J. Maas is truly the most generous author out there! She could have easily let us stew until she’d dropped the next book in a Throne of Glass series, but no. We have this wonderful tale to keep us satiated until then. She is undoubtedly my favorite author of this decade!

Horrible
I was disappointed with this book. After a fantastic sequence, the author presents this story without grace, sombia and with embittered personages, haunted by the past.
After understanding the point of view of the story, I can say I did not like it at all. I think it could have been presented differently.

I have loved this series and couldn’t wait for the latest release in it.. I hope there are more but would be happy to listen again. If you want a read that makes you forget you have a life this is it. I could not stop listening. It had all I looked for in a book. Drama, excitement, even a bit scary. This series took my mind to another place. I have never been so addicted. Best read, listen I’ve ever had for entertainment value. You must have an open mind and a good imagination. I hope they make a TV series on it. Even if they don’t read, listen from the first book in order or you will get lost. Can’t say enough about this series by Sara J. Mass. Brilliant hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
