Summary

Chris Gethard, the “significantly funny” (The New York Times) comedian, actor, and “cool kid of American hipster comedy” returns in a thoughtful and hard-hitting new show. Known for the critically acclaimed special Career Suicide as well as his unforgettable characters in shows like The Office and Broad City, Gethard is currently taking on his most prolific role yet: as a father. Charting the emotional experiences and revelations each new parent faces, A Father and the Sun is a hilarious ride bursting with palpable punchlines as Gethard tenderly explores generational differences, toxic masculinity, what it means to be a dad, and the truly unexpected joys of lawn maintenance.

Now available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

Love this show...

I saw this show in Edinburgh a couple of years ago (maybe last year, who knows anymore?) and loved it. Delighted to be able to hear it again. I had forgotten about Elmo! 💜

Glorious and hilarious!

Had me bursting out laughing time and time again… Chris Gethard is the best! If you like Beautiful Anonymous, you’ll love this - bonus if you’re a parent too!

Incredible, honest comedy

Another wonderful performance from one of the best. A humorous insight into the learnings of a new father and why Elmo is the best

Excellent stand-up show about parenthood

Firstly, let me say this... I am a childless man, no real interest in having kids and, generally, podcasts and shows about parenthood aren't for me. But, being a fan of Gethard, I decided to check this out anyway and - if you're anything like me in the above - then, trust me, that won't be a barrier to enjoying this incredibly funny and profound performance. There's lots to laugh at and plenty to make you think... I came out of it realising that my father has also never said "I love you" to me whilst also being incredibly OK with that. Give it a listen!
