About this listen
Companion wanted for an old and ornery card player.
All I want is a clever person to play cards with at night. No funny business. You sleep in your bed, and I’ll sleep in mine. Must be clean, quiet, sober, and willing to go to bed at a reasonable hour. A preference will be given to applicants who can play cribbage and gin rummy.
Sure, Kade wouldn’t normally consider a position as a companion for a polar bear shifter sentenced to a life in the oil fields of Alaska’s North Slope. But he’s broke. And the pay is good.
He doesn’t expect the “ornery card player” to be so handsome. Or sweet.
Before long, Kade wishes some “funny business” was an option. Especially when he goes into heat two weeks early...
A Handkerchief for Kade is an age-gap romance with an omega who loves makeup, D/s, and mpreg of the penguin egg variety. It’s book five of the Alaskan Pebble Gifters series and will only make sense if you’ve listened to the other books.

Love fairy penguins
Love fairy penguins
Amy was a new to me author, but I have now binged listened to 9 of her audiobooks and love them. So I will now hunt down the following books in the series.
Her world-building ability is very believable, and her characters are fantastic. Each book is unique but set in the same area, with cameo appearances from characters in other books.
This is an age-gap romance with Mpreg and nesting, which is the cutest thing ever. There are sad parts and family reunions, so expect a ride with your emotions.
Excellent writing and imagination. Well worth the read.
Good clear narration, although depending on how I feel, I speed him up a little. Listened at 1.15 on audible.

Love the fairies.
Love listening to this story, I enjoyed reading this book. Listening to it is sweet as well.
Kade is a gregarious but on some level insecure fairy penguin, who answers Otis advertisement for a companion on the North Slope. They hit it of and everything speeds up when Kade feels his heat coming on and becomes really scared due to another 'rager'. He flees into Otis his room . And their relationship progress quickly. Ofcourse the scenes for getting the nest building materials ate hilarious. The egg laying scenes and the length Otis goes to are so sweet.
This book starts to tackle the situation for both companion and 'polar bears who temporarily lost their temper' and them.
Mrs Bellows continues building the shifter world to point out the power 'The Guild' and the oil companies hold and the injustice that exists within each grouo for certain groups within.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes mm shifter books with a bit of angst, a bit of d/s a lot of love, family and a HEA.
The narration was well really done, as the ohters in this series This audiobook was given to me by the author.

Steamy, Sweet, and More!
I absolutely adored this story when I read it, and fell in love a little more once I listened to the audio. I'm so glad Amy chose Zaba to do the narration as he has it it out of the park with each of these books!

Wonderful Worldbuilding and Cute Romance
The Alaskan Pebble Gifters series is a cute omegaverse series with polar bear and penguin shifters. However, although there are a lot of adorable and sweet nesting moments and romantic love stories, the series overall arching plot tackles a very grim and serious issue of enforced labor and other dark elements. The contrast of the darker worldbuilding with the sweetness of the love makes for a very interesting and dynamic series. A Handkerchief for Kade delves deeper into the worldbuilding, but despite some of its seriousness, it never loses its charm and there are plenty of cute and sweet moments. Due to the complex worldbuilding, I highly suggest reading all the books in order.
