About this listen
Dakota Scott has spent her entire adult life trying to outrun her past, but even the privilege and reputation her family name affords her haven't helped her forget. Her mother's mental illness and the memory of the night that haunts her from so long ago won't release her. When the one woman with the power to set her free shows up, Dakota is drawn to her, but she is a painful reminder of everything Dakota has been trying desperately to escape. When Jessie Weldon returns to her hometown after thirty years of avoiding it, she knows she has demons to face and a conflicted past to resolve, but she has no idea love awaits her. Can she give her heart to Dakota with the tragic past that lies between them?

Another cracking narration
Lori Prince is a fantastic narrator who brings the characters to life. The story was rich and full with many layers, to keep the interest throughout. Excellent book

a very harrowing story of one incident 30yrs in past that affects two families, both of whom have tradgedy/trauma to deal with. the death that sparks is of a 16yr old trying to fit in, but misused by high school boys. in the present, her younger sister returns to the small town high school as a sub teacher, only to find her once crush, the accidental causer of her sisters' death, is also a teacher/coach.
what follows is a tremendous piece of writing, pulling me in as if related, and leaving me in tears.
it also proves in the narrator, that she is no.1 in her genre, with an absolutely stellar performance.
