About this listen
From Liverpool to Pamplona on a rollicking 72,000-mile road trip....
Andy Smart's early adventures are a series of jaw-dropping feats and bizarre situations from which, amazingly, he emerged unscathed. Living on his wits, sleeping rough, and accepting lifts that get him into bizarre and often dangerous situations, Andy's six years spent on the road stands as a unique record of life as it was in the late 1970s and early '80s.
In this hilarious memoir, they are juxtaposed with a host of earlier memories, resulting in a unique collection of dazzling, funny stories that have been told and retold in countless bars and comedy clubs but never before narrated in an audiobook.

As interesting, funny and heartfelt as I’d hoped
A great listen with some wonderfully funny tales, reminds me a lot of my childhood, without the hitching.

One of the best
One of my favourites. Amusing and very entertaining. Always great when the author also narrates and he's certainly very funny. I'd been looking forward to listening since hearing about it on H&J. Andy's certainly led an interesting life and well worth writing about.

An honest account of a bohemian
Having stumbled upon Andy Smart on his regular appearances on Hawksbee and Jacobs I decided to give this memoir (of sorts) a go. It is well worth a listen, and gives an insight into the life of a bohemian, a lifestyle that has always fascinated me. The story is honest, showing some of the real highs of the lifestyle (buying a pint for Samuel Beckett) and the lows (panhandling with two people down on their luck). Overall an excellent book and an honest insight into a life lived outside the mainstream. Highly recommended.

Pretty epic adventures told like we're in the pub
Thanks for sharing the memories, Andy. Felt so much like we were listening to events unfolding, whilst we were on a couple of long drives. Very entertaining indeed, lots of big laughs from us, to the point where we had to rewind a couple of times as we missed what came next.
My only complaint is that I need the next book for the next part of your life!
