Summary

This book is about fresh starts, about love, about friendship. It is also about the earth-shattering experience of becoming a father, the mundane struggles of family life, ridiculously unsuccessful holidays, the emotional strains of children's birthday parties and pushing a pram around Stockholm when all you really want to do is write.

This is a book about one man's life but, somehow, about everyone else's, too.

Critic reviews

"A stunningly eloquent set of reflections on masculinity, domesticity and the artist's itch to escape." ( Independent )
"This is a reading experience like no other. Fearless in its truth-telling and as real as life, it is an epic study of what it feels like to be alive." ( Metro)

Not quite up to the first book

having adorered book 1, I found this harder to lose myself in. perhaps due to where I am in my life, the stop start nature of how I listened, the connection I felt with book 1 was immense. I love his writing none the less and will certainly continue onto book 3.

the performance was fantastic.
