Summary

Buffalo Police Detective Lauren Riley risks her life to close the book for good on a killer who’s never paid for his crimes.

When cold-case Detective Lauren Riley returns to work months after being stabbed by a fellow police officer, it’s clear that her troubles are far from over. The body of a young woman has been found in the same woods as a murder victim from one of Lauren’s most horrifying cases. It doesn’t take long for Lauren to be back at square one confronting David Spencer, the quietly deranged man she could never prove was a killer.

Lauren convinces the police chief to put together a task force to uncover the connections between the brutal slaying of both women and the murder of two cops. But things go south quickly, forcing Lauren into a deadly game that she can’t afford to lose.

Two pages

Is -all- of this story. Rest is purple prose. Nice enough to play in the background. Two people show up and solve the case… maybe they were big characters in a previous book? Not satisfied with the story. Good prose for act three.

Not the greatest of stories

Too few twists and turns, too much focus on main character for it to be interesting.

Great

As good as the last book. Great characterisation +narration. I'd highly recommend the series.

Boringly tedious

I did try to listen to this book, but got to chapter 12, and really couldn't put up with much more.

The initial storyline is good, but to much explanation on other subjects, with no real part of the story.

Maybe I wasn't listening, maybe I wanted a more indepth and constructive story.

This book is not for me.

Easy listen

I’m writing the same for all four books as I read them one after the other but didn’t review immediately which is my usual practice. And I can’t actually recall them in detail!

They were just easy listens. Not taxing. Slightly unbelievable but I read all four so that says something. The narrator is a favourite of mine which is what drew me to the author.

Excellent

Really enjoyed listening to this book, although an American narrator, it was very clear and easy to listen to. Gripping story, full of twists and turns right to the end. Will listen to this author again.

Not for me.

I’m afraid I found the storyline ridiculous and the narration was not the best. Sorry!
