Mesmerising story interlaced either most delicate threads of the supernatural.
I loved subtle & understated supernatural stories. This book is well researched, incredibly entertaining, well written & well performed. Maybe if JB had spoken just the slightest little bit slower, but otherwise brilliantly executed reading of a supremely gifted author's book.

gripping and exciting
If you could sum up A Place of Secrets in three words, what would they be?
captivating and exciting mystery
What other book might you compare A Place of Secrets to, and why?
Tess Gerristen - the bone garden. The twists and turns unfolding in similar ways without being too obvious and each new secret told, leads to more questions.
Have you listened to any of Jilly Bond’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Not yet but intend to
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
all of it
Any additional comments?
Jilly Bond brought the cleverness of the book to life, she made each individual character believeable and distinctive, you could hear the expressions on her face as she narrated.

Different .
This is a long book which goes back and fore in time , which I tend not to enjoy. But I enjoyed this , not amazing but it's a good listen. You need to concentrate as it can be confusing as so many characters, and if I'd read it , probably would have gone back to look up who certain characters were. A good mystery, with some romance. Will apeel to those who enjoy astronomy . Sometimes it's good to listen to something different, will listen or read Rachel Hore again.

What an enjoyable story!
This is Rachel Hore at her best! This story conjuréd up such wonderful characters, the story had such twists and turns and depths like an emotional roller coaster. I thought we were to be left with loose ends towards the end but not to be. I particularly enjoy books that have a historical element and this did not disappoint as the story involved two eras and the subject matter kept me enthralled to the end. I was very sad when this ended and felt somewhat bereft as I’d become so involved with the characters. Thought Jenny Bond did a fab job of narrating,

Worth getting into
I found this really hard to get into at first-it chopped and changed settings which at times could be hard to follow if not fully concentrating. I also found it dragged on until I got to know the characters well. But once I did it was gripping and well worth sticking with. A lovely ending. The narrator's Norfolk accent put on for Gran was gearing at times, but generally well narrated.
