Summary
Edinburgh, 1804.
Dorothea Flockhart is hiding her past. A woman alone, she avoids men. Even the personable Captain Rogers fails to stir her heart despite all his efforts.
While Napoleon's armies threaten invasion, Scotland's capital still hosts balls, although the atmosphere is hectic, and men don uniforms to meet the impending turmoil.
Carrying many secrets, Dorothea wends her way through the wynds of Edinburgh. But when a personification of the past returns to recreate the nightmares that have haunted her for a decade, which will triumph: love or fear?

Brilliant
A fascinating story and a plot full of suspense, mystery and twists.
Dorothea is a very mysterious lady with a secret past that comes back to haunt her. The suspense and the light romantic touch had me completely hooked. I loved the narration and the authentic Scottish voice was a lovely change to English and American narrations. The narrator was a very fitting match to the setting of the book and I would happily listen to more of her performances.
