About this listen

Discovering she is another world’s prophesied heroine was not something Hannah Winters could have ever predicted. However, having accepted the mantle of Aerisia’s Artan, Hannah must now move beyond the pain of the past and conquer her magic in order to save this land.

Will the pitfalls awaiting her—suspicion, rumors, lies, betrayal, murder, warfare—halt her quest? Who is Hannah’s ally, and who only appears to be? Will shocking revelations about her heritage push her away, or convince her that she’s walking the right path? With the dark powers growing bolder every day, Hannah’s pursuit of answers leads her to the Underworld, a place where even immortals dare not tread, on a journey from which she may not return.

A good magic listen

I really liked this new world I've been thrown into. It felt as though I was there. The characters are well thought out and the plot made for a very interesting read.

Excellent

Excellent. Hannah is really coming into her own. And the slow burn is growing, as is the danger. Really enjoying this series.

Cliff-hanger ending

Hannah accepting that she really is the Artan does not come easily to her. Soon others feel the same as the rumour mill creates discontent within the lands, at the hands of suspected traitors. With the threat of evil coming ever closer, Hannah continues to train with weapon's and learn her magic in order to protect herself.

Unfortunately, I lost interest with book 2 and found it a very frustrating read. The theme of the book "Light is good, Dark is bad". Hannah once again proves to be just as immature as in book 1 despite her life changing experiences, and refuses to accept the possibility of a mole within their ranks. The (non-)romance between Hannah and her love interest drags on with such miniscule progress, I gave up waiting for them to get on with it. The title of the book is misleading. The 'Underground' is not even mentioned until the very last few minutes of the audiobook. I don't see the point with the 'Underground' being in the title if it is barely mentioned in the book. I'm never a fan of cliff-hanger endings.

I was given this book for free of my own choosing and I voluntarily left this review.
