Summary

Born into hardship in a Northumbrian mining village, Annie Manon needs all her strength to survive the bleak years following the First World War.

Another Margaret Graham masterpiece.

I nearly gave up with this book, which was slow to start and had rather a lot of characters, to keep track of. I am so grateful that I persevered as it all came together and was absolutely gripping. Wonderful.
