Summary
Liverpool, 1945. Three women, the strongest of friends, return home, trying to fit back into their old lives after they've been demobbed. They've been thrown together by the war and shared all sorts of good and bad times. Now their old lives seem dull in comparison. But not for long....
Maggie and Nell are both 21 and full of hope and excitement. Iris, on the other hand, is feeling apprehensive about returning to civilian life. At the age of 30, her only wish is to have a baby, but sadly this wish is yet to come true. When one of the women falls pregnant, there begins a dramatic sequence of events so wide-reaching that the three friends' lives will become more intricately woven than they could imagine....

Definitely love these books
It's a great series with such alotbof details, it look me bk, well as far as the 60s anyway. I can't stop saying it's the gear now either, These books are so appealing, Written & read so well. They are the gear.

A good listen
I read this book some time ago, and enjoyed it all over again in audio, l recommend you read the book then listen to it on audio most enjoyable.

not all heriones are perfect
what a breath of fresh air. 3 main characters ( not all whiter than white like all of us).their lives and those of the next generation. unlike some books you're not left wondering what happened next. i absolutly hate that. if this were an old movie it would be termed a 'kitchen sink movie' ie ordinary people with mostly ordinary lives. i loved it ldefinatly worth a peep

Easy listening
This book helped me travel home from work in a different world, and made this go quickly. I love Maureen's book - makes you feel as if you know Liverpool x
