Summary

Each culture has its own myths and legends, but only one is shared, and it is feared by all.

With Age of Myth, Age of Swords, and the New York Times best-selling Age of War, fantasy master Michael J. Sullivan riveted fans with a tale of unlikely heroes locked in a desperate battle to save humankind. After years of warfare, humanity has gained the upper hand and has pushed the Fhrey to the edge of their homeland, but no farther. Now comes the pivotal moment.

Persephone’s plan to use the stalemate to seek peace is destroyed by an unexpected betrayal that threatens to hand victory to her enemy and leaves a loved one in peril. Humanity’s only hope lies in the legend of a witch, a forgotten song, and a simple garden door.

very short book compared to the others...

the story wasn't progressed greatly and it was surprisingly short for a book that's taken a while to appear. The writing is of the same standard as ever so that's a plus, but I really wanted more from this book. I supposed I'll just have to wait for the next installment!

Slow to build up and then accelerates to the end

I am a fan of the Ryria Chronicles and the Ryria Revelations. I got into the Legend of the First Empire and the fourth book was a rollercoaster. It took time to build momentum but once the plot was secured, it hurtled towards the next level. This book has gone into a more spiritual level and the next book will be a deep dive into this area. The character development here is brilliant and each character has been given its shade of grey. The narration is brilliant and helps build the atmosphere in the swamp and between the worlds. Two books left in the series and I am sure I will race through them

Tissues and eye-rolls

I’ve eye-rolled with Moyà and cried for Gifford. The characters are rounded and the fragility of life and circumstance is cleverly woven throughout this epic series. There but for the grace of the Gods…

Had me entranced

I love how Michael J Sullivan writes his books. The characters are so vivid and real, and I honestly was so invested in every chapter. Absolutely brilliant and well read by the narrator.

Stepping stone story

Humph... well that’s another book down and having to wait for the next. Pretty annoying to have to wait, as the story, for all it was good, didn’t go anywhere, it was a filler book, a stepping stone book, the book in between where you have to wait for the next.
For an author with a self proclaimed different writing style and having written all the books already, you have to wait an awfully long time for the next.
Hurry up the next release please I need to know what happens.
Really getting into this series and intrigued to know how it ends

Best one yet

What a masterpiece Sullivan is creating here. I completely forgot about the books after the first 3 (and I loved them) but the fourth book is just starting to pick up. I can’t believe how good he is at blending history with human emotions and then throwing in a little sci-fi.

Absolutely love this series. Finished the book in about a week and I’m about to jump straight into the next one.

Book 4 of a great series

I loved the development of the characters, storyline and, as usual, MJS's engaging and absorbing style of writing. This book ends on a real cliffhanger. It's shorter than the others and I notice there are 2 more to come. It feels like it could have been much longer, especially given the wait from the one before.
