The horror of ordinary France under the Nazis rather than being Paris based.
Excellent retelling of the horror of Lyon’s under the Gestapo & the “Butcher of Lyon’s” & the Collaborators. I have enjoyed these 3 books & the stories revolving around the main characters. Sorry it’s ended.

how to read in a monotone and with no variation
the story is good, different parts start to fit together and there is a small basis of fact, what almost ruins it is the reader. no change of pace, no change of emphasis, no variation in tone. each word however significant or insignificant has the same value. it is almost soporific. it makes it difficult to understand as you have to rearrange the sentences while you are listening to make sense. this is the second reader who i will never purchase again. which is a shame if there are more books by Gerlis as they are good.
