Too short...
Good story, haven't seen the film yet but hoping it hasn't changed a great deal like ready player one.
Unfortunately the narrator voice s little annoying not being prejudice but had a problem emphasising his ssssssss 's

Almost bad.
Usually movies are worse than the books.
In this case it is the other way around.
I do understand that the book was written after the movie but still there are examples of such things done right (Pacific Rim)
It takes the not so brilliant story from the movie and removes the visual elements that made it a good experience.
It keeps trying to force the bonding experience between Alita and the doc down your through, telling you HOW MUCH HE WANTS TO REPLACE HIS DAUGHTER AND HOW INTENSE.
And the "love interest" is also gag worthy.
There are a few scenes better explained than in the movie but they very few.
Managed to finish it but it felt like a chore.
The prequel is much better.
Maybe if it was not trying to stick so close to the movie, a movie that is quite shallow if you take away the visuals, it could have been better.
Prequel is good.

Easier to just watch the Movie
It is a great story, however I was left a bit disappointed in the fact that it is exactly the same as the movie. It has no extra scenes or information at all.
I was hoping that the book would give a little more insight and information than the movie did. But it literally played out exactly scene by scene like the movie, but just took 9+ hours to get to the end.
I did enjoy the listen. But just feel like I could have used a fraction of that time and just watched the movie again instead, in all its magnificent glory.

Film is good book is better
when seeing the film for the first time I was really drawn to the characters but the book gives extra layers of thought, dialogue and depth that are easily missed when watching the film. I still feel the story could be extended and more experiences could be seen of Alita's curiosity when first awakening and her relationships with other main characters like Hugo. overall still a good read and the narration is done very well that I could close my eyes and be immersed in the world described in the book.

Brilliant adaptation of movie and manga
The movie and novelisation (book 0 and book 1) are based on manga. Picture a post-apocalyptic, post-war, corrupt world and then immerse yourself in what characters have to do to make ends meet. The struggle between what is right and survival is tangible. The narrator matches the setting of this world most perfectly and the backstory gives more depth to the movie, which I loved and am planning to watch again now. Enjoy!

Pretty good
Not a bad story. I've not seen the movie but I enjoyed this story based on it. It might have been better as more of an audio drama than as a straight read through but otherwise Ok
