The Chicago Bears are more than a football team - they are a legend. Founded in 1919, the Bears have won more regular season games than any other NFL franchise. The Bears, like Chicago, are not just people. They are personalities. In Amazing Tales From the Chicago Bears Sideline, Bears fans can hear about the men who have made the Bears one of the greatest franchises in pro football....

Nate Jackson’s Slow Getting Up is an unvarnished and uncensored memoir of everyday life in the most popular sports league in America - and the most damaging to its players - the National Football League. After playing college ball at a tiny Division III school, Jackson, a receiver, signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers, before moving to the Denver Broncos. For six seasons in the NFL as a Bronco, he alternated between the practice squad and the active roster, eventually winning a starting spot - a short, tenuous career emblematic of the average pro player.

At its heart, this six-team league is a short-stop away from either the glamour of the NFL or the bottom of the professional football scrap pile - a crossroads full of real-life drama where the joy of "making it" can be tempered by failure or injury with one misstep; where the difference between a multimillion dollar NFL contract and abject poverty may only be one play away.

As acclaimed sports biographer Mark Ribowsky shows, Shula met serious resistance at home when he asked to play high school football, but when his parents finally relented, they discovered that their son had an unmatched mind for the game's strategy and a stomach for its brutality.

He led the Portland Trail Blazers to the NBA Finals twice and helped the Houston Rockets win the NBA championship in 1995. A ten-time All-Star, a member of the 1992 Olympic Dream Team, and now a member of basketball’s Hall of Fame, Drexler reached the top of his profession without revealing many of his inner thoughts on himself or the game.
Summary
The NFL icon who first brought show business to sports shares his life lessons on fame, fatherhood, and football.
Three days before the 1969 Super Bowl, Joe Namath promised the nation that he would lead the New York Jets to an 18-point underdog victory against the seemingly invincible Baltimore Colts. When the final whistle blew, that promise had been kept. Namath was instantly heralded as a gridiron god, while his rugged good looks, progressive views on race, and boyish charm quickly transformed him - in an era of raucous rebellion, shifting social norms, and political upheaval - into both a bona fide celebrity and a symbol of the commercialization of pro sports. By 26, with a championship title under his belt, he was quite simply the most famous athlete alive.
Although his legacy has long been cemented in the history books, beneath the eccentric yet charismatic personality was a player plagued by injury and addiction, both sex and substance. When failing knees permanently derailed his career, he turned to Hollywood and endorsements, not to mention a tumultuous marriage and fleeting bouts of sobriety, to try and find purpose. Now 74, Namath is ready to open up, brilliantly using the four quarters of Super Bowl III as the narrative backbone to a life that was anything but charmed. As much about football and fame as about addiction, fatherhood, and coming to terms with our own mortality, All the Way finally reveals the man behind the icon.

My childhood hero.
When I was 5 years old, in 1975, I was hospitalized with a stroke. I was also a huge Jets fan, and still am. while at the hospital, through some distant family connections, I received a gift. It was an autographed photo along with a personal letter from Joe Namath. It still chokes me up when I think about his heartfelt and sincere message to me.
I downloaded this book the moment it was released. I could not wait to listen to it. I was doubly thrilled that Joe Namath himself was narrating the book. His voice and swagger are as timeless as superbowl III. Joe explorers, in juxtaposition, his experience at Alabama under coach Bryant and his experience in SB III. I love his humility in his writing. this is a great listen and I encourage any NFL fan, not just a Jet fan, to read it.

EVERY JOE NAMATH FAN WILL LOVE THIS BOOK
THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!
I AM A JOE NAMATH FAN AND THIS BOOK REMINDS ME OF THE JET YEARS WHEN JOE WAS QB.
WHAT MAKES IT BETTER IS JOE READS THE BOOK. HIS VOICE SOUNDS JUST THE SAME AS IT DID 50 YEARS AGO,
I ESPECIALLY AGREE THAT THE OAKLAND RAIDERS WERE DIRTY PLAYERS!
MANY PERSONAL LITTLE STORIES ABOUT HIS LIFE AS WELL AS A LOT ABOUT FOOTBALL.
A MUST READ FOR JET FANS. IF YOU ARE TOO YOUNG TO KNOW WHO JOE IS YOU SHOULD "READ" IT ANYWAY.

Thank you Joe Namath!!
I’ve always wanted to meet Joe Namath ever since I read a book that my dad gave me about him. I was probably only nine or 10 years old back in the early 70’s, I’m 57 now. My family is Hungarian, and I think my dad wanted me to see that being Hungarian was something to be proud of and celebrated. Joe Namath has been my hero ever since.
Listening to this book in Joe’s voice kind of felt like I did meet him, and that we were having the coolest conversation ever. Thanks Joe!!

Memories!
I was drawn to this audiobook after seeing Joe on TV, he was a favorite of mine for that Super Bowl and the story or the game and his life is great. To me though what really makes the audiobook is that it is Joe Namath reading it, telling you what he was thinking.throughout the game, his career and his life. Joe had certain flair to be sure and it shows here. I don't think I would have enjoyed this audiobook a tenth as much without Joe, it would have just been another recording. I just finished my first listen, about to start the second, knowing how it finishes doesn't spoil it.Thanks Joe for telling your story.

Great listen and narration by Joe
I could listen to Joe Namath read the phone book. He has always had the great voice for telling a story. That said, and he has always admitted to this, he keeps his lifestyle outside of football very private. He doesn’t touch much on it at all. Yes - he tells the story about owning the nightclub, and the NFL controversy. I would have loved to hear more about his life outside of football and the Super Bowl III. A lot of the book is Joe’s memories of Super Bowl III as he is watching it. I enjoyed the insights but would have loved to hear more about Joe without the helmet.

My 50 Year Crush on Joe Namath & Football!
I was 12 yrs old when I wrote an A+ book report for school on Joe Namath's first autobiography, "I Can't Wait Until Tomorrow... Cause I Get Better Looking Every Day". And now tonight I'm writing again about this amazing man after reading, "All The Way... My Life in Four Quarters". Both books are full of honesty, depth and a loyalty to the game of football. Profound insight into the game, the players and the rollercoaster of failures and successes both on and off the
field are told by a QB who knows exactly what football means to the fans. And Namath's detailed narrative puts you right there, taking the snap and winning that game for the underdog. Fame, fortune, drinking and women ... handled as smoothly as his Super Bowl passes.
