Summary
En augustnat i begyndelsen af 1950'erne dukkede et skrin op på loftet af en sjællandsk gård. Skrinet indeholdt bl.a. tre store bundter breve, og det er disse breve, Arthur Krasilnikoff hermed udgiver. Brevene er skrevet for ca. 100 år siden af en ung dansk sømand. De er til hans elskede Sidsel, og de fortæller om hans anstrengende, farefulde og spændende tur fra New Yorks havn til Australien.
