Informative
A really well balanced and honest account of his visit to mosques around UK . Giving insight into their machinations in this country ; which I will admit at times is worrying . Thankyou . Enjoyed the sensitive narration by Akbar Kurtha .

Highly informative in-depth analysis
Listened to this after it got good reviews in The Economist, and it didn't disappoint. An equally troubling but hopeful analysis of the complexities of British Islam today - definitely recommended for anyone interested in politics, free speech, religion and multiculturalism.
Dispels so many myths about Islam while also highlighting conflicts within Britain that I didn't know existed.
Really interesting and definitely recommended.

Very insightful
I came to this excellent book having read Husain’s ‘House of Islam’ (which is fantastic by the way). Among the Mosques offers a valuable and nuanced portrait of Islam in 21st century Britain, the pros and the cons. Well worth reading to gain a better understanding of Islam, multiculturalism, radicalization, branches of Islamic faith, etc. Husain is a great writer and storyteller.

Food for thought
I found this audiobook brave and divisive, perverse and inclusive all at the same time. There are a few points that I would like to make in random order:
I as a Shia do not believe in self-flagellation but this book would have you believe I do, so essentially his point of view is sometimes confused as fact.
I do believe that interpretation of religions (and not just Islam) need to be practiced in a modern context, so I applaud his bravery in bringing to the forefront the issues of Salafism and Deobandism. These do need to be addressed and what was pleasing is the criticism of some prominent Irish figures and their ignorance of islam.
Essential in his idea of being British he overly concerns himself in his meaning of integration e.g. from the book it comes across that it is ok for Muslims to drink alcohol, I don't believe it is and it is not for someone else to infer it that it is ok. He is also pro-monarchy, I am a republican but that does not make me any less British or integrated than him.
It was insightful but also could be inciteful

Important book
A fascinating look at the varied nature of the British Muslim population today. Courageous, lucid and inspiring writing teamed with equally clear narrating. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to learn more about modern Britain.

An essential read if you want to understand Muslims in Britain
This is one of my all-time favourite books which was as gripping as it was educational, as shocking as it was reassuring and ultimately a projection of where Britain will both gain and lose from the recent explosion of Muslims (no pun intended). I for one do welcome most Muslims in our country and I’m grateful for their contribution on so many levels but their very existence in our community is being threatened by the extremism within their communities. If they fail to stand up to this extremism they will all suffer and positive integration into British society will never properly occur and that’s an existential threat for everyone in Britain. In summary, a superb book which every Briton needs to read regardless of their ideology, colour or religion.

Fascinating insights, a great book
I loved how the chapters move seamlessly from one area to the next, and learned a lot from this book, Ed obtains some unique insights with a thread of acceptance and understanding, to all. I found myself parked in supermarket car parks with the engine on, waiting to finish the chapter.
