About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Another Fine Mess, written and read by Tim Moore.

Lacking even the most basic mechanical knowhow, Tim Moore sets out to cross Trumpland USA in an original Model T Ford. Armed only with a fan belt made of cotton, wooden wheels and a trunkload of ‘wise-ass Limey liberal gumption’, his route takes him exclusively through Donald-voting counties, meeting the everyday folks who voted red along the way.

He meets a people defined by extraordinary generosity, willing to shift heaven and earth to keep him on the road. And yet, this is clearly a nation in conflict with itself: citizens ‘tooling up’ in reaction to ever-increasing security fears; a healthcare system creaking to support sugar-loaded soda lovers; a disintegrating rust belt all but forgotten by the warring media and political classes.

With his trademark blend of slapstick humour, affable insight and butt-clenching peril, Tim Moore invites us on an unforgettable road trip through Trump’s America. Buckle up!

Excellent! Made me want to plan another great trip.

Once again, I’ve been thoroughly entertained, have you, and informed by one of Tim ‘s books. The stories of those fabulous folks in the fly over States made me want to plan a road trip myself – although definitely not in a model T. Great job Tim – I even enjoyed your American accent!

Good story - could improve narration.

Sorry Tim but your American accent is appalling and was pretty irritating.

Probably best to use a good narrator next time..

Otherwise very much enjoyed it!

Fun and thought provoking

The jaunty delivery and nonjudgmental account of mikes adventure made this story a great listen - even for a none motor enthusiast.

A great listen.

A fascinating look at hidden America, the story of the automobile and how Henry Ford changed the world.

Very Funny and Informative

Tim Moore's other book The Cyclist Who Went Out In The Cold was laugh out loud funny so I know what to expect in this installment when once again Tim set off on a huge journey underskilled and utterly underprepared.

Even the fact that Tim is an utter wuss about politics and continuously moans about Trump as though Trump had any more affect on Tim's life beyond being really really annoying and orange and stupid. Yeah trump is a dreadful man. The way Tim moans you'd think that the democrat option was at good as Trump is bad, they're all dreadful.

This side Tim was still able to look beyond the politics and experience people as they really are, friendly, kind, positive, and generous.

Dry humour and delivery had me laughing out loud

Not a topic I was interested in but had listened to another Tim Moore so gave it a shot. After a slow start or maybe it just took time for me to tune in to Moore's humour the book became fascinating and entertaining.

The book throws alot of light on the red blue political divide in the US and illustrates why perfectly normal Americans have voted for trump.

Apart from the initial premise of driving a 93 year old car coast to coast, Moore is normal and behaves normally, the listener never gets a sense of why did he do that ? (in a top gear farce manner) but he simply does the things anyone might do in that situation. It is the people he meets that provide the interest, humour and insights.
