"Where are e Architects?"

The third in the series Architects of he Apocalypse and best read after the two earlier books. The cast of protagonists, and there are many, include Russians, Chinese and people's from the United States including a religious sect, aliens, those indigenous to Planet B, dinosaurs, Shadow creatures, and the mortal enemies, the Watchers and the Architects, and thrown into the mix are the enslave!ent and carnage on earth, space portals, hollow planets, military units, destructive drones, a pregnant woman who doesn't know the father, a convicted murderer or two, a romance and magic heaing water - all of which is in place before the book begins. Switching through various locations and perspectives, it is hard to keep.up after the action really starts up. A bit like 'real' life actually.
The characters are mostly well drawn and distinctive but the nature of their loyalties at times ambiguous leading into, and even during, the final big battle. The whole is very simply but visually written. The accompanying narration by James Patrick Cronin is well performed, different voices for each character keeping them distinct, even if some are annoying.

I find it hard to know how to rate this book. It was an enjoyable read at times and cleverly written, but just too cluttered and segmented, pushing in new ideas then moving on, for this reader, plus a very unsatisfying ending.
