About this listen
Someone has an axe to grind. Literally!
Paige Murphy has settled into her new life as a writer and bookshop owner. Business booms when an infamous Hollywood director announces he’s hidden a treasure that could bring fame and fortune to whoever finds it...and his clues lead a bevy of actors and adventurers to Comfort Cove!
But when the body of one of those actors is found on the beach, Paige’s detective brother sets his sights on Paige’s hunky new assistant as the killer. Now, she must turn to her newly-formed coven and resident ghost to catch the real murderer without jeopardizing her brother’s new job.
Apples, Actors and Axes is book number two in the Beachside Books Magical Cozy Mystery Series.
If you like your cozy mysteries with a cast of quirky characters, a dash of magic, and a loyal but slightly dim-witted cat, you’ll love this light-hearted whodunit.

Treasure hunts can be deadly
I read this book and really enjoyed it, so jumped at the chance to add it to my audio book collection. Glad I did because having it read made the story even more enjoyable. It is a nice easy fun story with a subtle hint of witch craft added in. I love cosy mysteries, add in witch craft, pirate ghosts, treasure and a book store and it comes out as a winner in my book. The characters are fun and I really like the small town feel to the book. The inclusion of a pirate ghost trapped in a book is definitely different and unique but just right for a book shop set in a seaside town.. The mystery was very good and plotted out well to keep you hooked. I was still surprised by the killer, even though I had read the book, because of the twists the story took. I think this is the type of book you could listen to again in a few months time and certainly a book I would recommend. In fact I have to my mum. mum.
Pagie hires a new assistant to help out in the book store she inherited from her aunt but she might have to fire him before he has even began when she receives a huge plumbing bill. Before she comes to a decision two things happen. First word spreads around the town that she had hired heartthrob puppy saving hero Jordan Rake and her bookstore suddenly he very business with female shopper and second a Hollywood director announces he has hidden a treasure and the first person to discover it wins a fortune and a chance to star in a new film. The clues point to it being buried in Comfort Cove and actors and treasure hunters descend on the town. But things really get out of hand when one of the actors is found dead in the beach and the number on suspect is Pagie's new assistant. Can Pagie and her newly formed coven of witches sniff out the truth behind the murder and find the killer.
I really liked the narrator and thought she weaved her own magic in bringing this story to life.
