About this listen

If I’m malfunctioning, I don’t care. There’s only one woman I want.

Atticus, a new limited edition android built specifically for the classroom, is met with a cold reception when he’s won in a bionic lottery by a middle school in St. Morgan, Illinois.

When everyone’s scared of losing their jobs, making connections is nearly impossible. But being assigned as Lucy Warren’s teaching aide has awakened something inside him. He’s adapting, evolving into more than just a machine.

But Lucy is secretive, off the grid, and skittish. What could she possibly be hiding?

Brand-new job. Hot new teacher’s assistant. Oh, he’s a robot by the way.

After a devastating heartbreak, Lucy tries to get away from the hype and bustle of New Carnegie. But it always seems to find her, even in a small countryside town.

Working with Atticus is dangerous. It puts her in the spotlight. She should be careful, but it’s becoming difficult to ignore the electricity between them.

When destructive rumors begin to spread and threaten to tear them apart, can Atticus help Lucy remember her courage?

This is a cyberpunk forbidden-love coworkers-to-lovers cyborg AI romance with no cheating and an HEA. Each book in the New Carnegie Androids series is a stand-alone. You can listen to it on its own or as part of the series.

Light read with a simple plot

I found Atticus to be an interesting character, and I liked the romance development. A futuristic light read for droid fans. I generally like the series, and will be hearing other books.

Loved the narration of Christian Leatherman

Atticus is a limited editions bionic assistant created to provide help in the education system, and ends up assigned to Lucy Warren, a young schoolteacher. Lucy is struggling the system. The relationship between Lucy and Atticus makes us ponder the question of how we define ourselves as human beings.
Atticus and Lucy complement each other so well that.

The beginning

If you are familiar with the New Carnegie Androids Series by Roxie McClaine, you have already heard more than once about Atticus & Lucy's love story. And here it comes at last. Atticus is a limited editions bionic assistant created to provide support to schoolteachers, and ends up assigned to Lucy Warren, a young schoolteacher working in a small town “in the middle of nowhere”. The story is sweet and slow-burning, and I liked it a lot.
