Summary

I'm lost in the middle of nowhere on a freaking alien planet. Running away from the Hyrrokin mafia. It's as terrible as you can imagine.

I haven't eaten in two days and it's raining in the wildlands. Lightning strikes overhead and thunder rumbles in the distance. I slip and fall in the mud. And then I sit at the bottom of a ravine, crying.

There's a blur in the distance. Is that a mirage? No, its a deadly, satanic-looking male with a bare chest, huge black horns and a barbed tail racing right for me. I scream as this monster looms overhead.

Am I his target? Is he here to recapture me?

I've got you, female, he says with a deep, gentle tone. I'm taking you to my ranch. I will protect and care for you.

He scoops me into his massive arms and I promptly faint from both panic and exhaustion.

Please gods, let this turn out okay.

Thorn and Mica

Story: Mica (h) comes to planet Tarvos only to find she’s been deceived about her responsibilities and is on the run from the Hyrrokin mafia when she’s caught in late rainy season storm. Hyrrokin rancher Thorn (H) comes to her rescues and takes her to his home, offering her safety and a place to heal. Thorn is attracted to Mica, but he realizes he needs to move slowly to help her recover from the traumas she’s unwilling to divulge. Mica and Thorn begin to connect with one another, even as she worries her secrets will catch up with her and put Thorn and the other Hyrrokin on the ranch in danger. Loved how protective Thorn was of Mica, even from his family and friends, yet still respected her need for their relationship to move at a pace she was comfortable with. Great to have Prince back and the new Flagstone stories look to be a great addition to the Hyrrokin-human stories. Loved this alien-human romance with plenty of heat, drama, and action. While all the Monsters Love Curvy Girls stories are technically standalones, I think they're best read in order to get the whole flow of things and because they’re all such great stories.

Audio: The narrators, Joy Beharie and Patrick Zeller, did a really great job with this story. The audiobook uses a male narrator and a female narrator – I always appreciate when an author goes for the additional costs of having two narrators in a duet style. Zeller does a good job with the tone he brings to the male voices, and Beharie gave Mica a voice that seemed to embody her, as well as other female voices.

Great addition to the series

Mica Is on the run from the Hyrrokin Mafia when Thorn. find her hurt and bleeding. Unsure who to trust she is unwilling to tell him her story.
This is a great read, Thorn is an absolute sweetie and Mica is a strong woman who knows what she wants.
I enjoyed this story and look forward to more books in this series.
The narrators have done a wonderful job.
