Summary

Zindagi 50-50's young writer Bhagwant Anmol manages to cover sensitive topics which tug at the very fabric of our society. In Bali Umar he has managed to do the same. At the center of the novel are a child’s innocence, his shenanigans, and a child’s raging curiosity to fathom everything about life.

The main protagonists of the novel are children, and the plot is set in a village. The novel is an attempt to address societal-political and caste angle issues through the medium of children. The novel tries to address a relevant point of fissure in today’s society, where the feeling of Indian-ness is getting lost in every other differentiation, which the society has in its underbelly.

The author was endowed with Uttar Pradesh Sansthan’s Balkrishan Sharma Navin award in 2017. His previous book, Zindagi 50-50, is the center of research for many research scholars.
