"From kicking a ball as a kid under the street lamps of Poplar and standing on Highbury's North Bank with my dad, to my first game at West Ham, I was born head over heels in love with football. It saved me, and 50 years on that hasn't changed one bit - I'd be lost without it...." Harry is the manager who has seen it all - from from a dismal 70s Portakabin at Oxford City and training pitches with trees in the middle to the unbeatable highs of the Premiership, lifting the FA Cup and taking on Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Story
Jimmy Bullard may not have had the perfect hair-do, his Granada Ghia may not have been the flashiest of cars, and he definitely didn't have a string of Page 3 girls trying to sell kiss and tell stories about him to the tabloids. But what he has in spades is a genuine love for The Beautiful Game that few of his peers can match. One of the last graduates from football's old school, Jimmy actually worked in the real world - including as a painter and decorator - before turning pro. Maybe that's why he played football with a smile on his face, always says what's on his mind, and is no stranger to a spot of mischief.

Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Listen to this explosive insight into the previously unseen world of football club ownership by one of the game's most recognisable figures.
Multimillionaire at 32.
Youngest Premier League football club owner at 36.
His club and a fortune lost at 42.
Owning your childhood club—that's the dream, isn't it?
Simon Jordan made his fortune building a mobile phone company from scratch. When he sold it for £75 million, he bought Crystal Palace FC, the club he'd supported as a boy, and led them into the Premier League.
Ten years later, Palace was in administration and Jordan had lost nigh on everything. Be Careful What You Wish For lifts the lid on being the owner of a football club and how the game really works. Hopes and dreams sit alongside greed, self-interest, dodgy transfers, boardroom fights and dressing room dressing downs. Throughout no one is spared, least of all Jordan himself.
A finalist for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year.
Shortlisted for the British Sports Book Award for best autobiography.

Pinocle Level
This is the best audible I’ve listened to date.
I can’t label myself as someone who has used audible books a large amount of times.
And mainly get attracted to people who narrate it themselves for one and have had a career that has been worked at and tend to have controversy to contend with.
The finest 5 books to date in my option is:
1. Simon Jordan
2. Will Smith
3. Neil Warnock
4. Tyson Fury
5. Eddie Hearns
But in truth this gripped me all the way and wouldn’t allow me to ever let distractions interfere and accept missing a second of SJ’s accounts.
I’m a Villa fan since birth but after hearing Warnock’s take on time at Palace under Jordan which wasn’t something I
Knew of really, I then watched the Amazon Documentary on The Eagles which cover time after Jordan’s tenure. This account of events really answered my questions and made become
Fond of Palace and really stamp my liking to Jordan’s opinions and ideas.
His radio work on Talksport tends to more often than not agree with my thoughts!
Must read or listen

Warts and all, the person and the football industry
Simon tells his story in a very believable way. On face value it is presented without trying to justify his own failings, or bury those he fell out with.
It is very easy to listen from start to finish with minimal breaks.
My only criticism is that it ends most abruptly with his parting with Crystal Palace. At the beginning of the book it is autobiographical, birth, childhood, parents, friends, education etc. Then it is almost all about the trials and tribulations of owning a football club and is fascinating and truly enlightening. But I had hoped that with an audiobook being released in 2022 he could have added to the end a succinct description of his life after Crystal Palace.
All in all a great listen, full of life lessons that came at a very high price.
