About this listen
A 31-day devotional in a liturgical style, featuring daily scripture readings, historical prayers, catechisms, and creeds
Every Christian knows the importance of a daily quiet time with the Lord. But anyone who’s been a believer long enough has likely experienced seasons that feel more mundane or routine, leading to aimlessly skimming a couple of Bible verses or praying the same prayer over and over.
In Be Thou My Vision, Jonathan Gibson has created a 31-day liturgical guide designed to provide structure to the daily worship of individuals and families. Each daily reading includes a call to worship, adoration, confession, assurance, creed and catechism, the Gloria Patri, a prayer of illumination, Bible reading, intercessory prayer, and the Lord’s Prayer. Designed to be listened to in 15–20 minutes a day, this beautifully produced liturgy will give listeners focus and purpose to their daily quiet time while teaching them historical prayers, creeds, and catechisms that point them to Christ.

Wonderful BUT!!!
I have this in audible and kindle. The audible is a bit of a mess as sometimes the narrative jumps ie day 8 goes from adoration then skips reading of the law landing on confession of sin. Other days have two tracks playing over the top of each other. Luckily with the kindle I can follow and fill in the blanks. Not helpful when I use on my commute audible only.
Other than this I am really impressed with it. Very helpful to focus concentration in prayer worship confession and study.
Great resource. Please have have an audio engineer go through and fix the tracks. I am up to day 8 and have found 3 faults.
God bless
Here is my review on kindle:
I initially bought the ebook version and was so impressed I have bought the Audio book and pre-ordered the Hard Back as well which will arrive in the new year. Why? It’s such a good tool!
Over lock down I have tried to bring rhythm and depth to my own prayer and study of scripture and for my kids as well. As well as daily readings I introduced a little catechism taken from the new city catechism which I had been using with my kids. I introduced some worshipful prayers and songs for us.
I have also been trying to deepen my understanding of the thousands of years of spiritual heritage of those Christians who preceded me. But it takes a lot of time and it was hard to find appropriate material.
How thankful then was I when I came across Be Thou My Vision. It does it all and better than I ever could and is like being mentored by an older wiser Christian. In only 20 minutes a day I can respond to Christ’s call to worship, to examine and repent, to praise, to listen to His word, to receive theological wisdom and instruction and to respond in faith.
This book is truly wonderful. I do not come from a formally liturgical tradition but found this structure and call to worship deeply impactful.
I adapt it slightly for family devotions and my kids really enjoy the structure. Especially my eldest who loves reading the prayers of older saints, she struggles to know what to say in open prayer (we have all been there) and now I hear her echoing the language in her own prayers.
I am looking forward to receiving the hard back version which looks beautifully made.
Truly thankful for this work. I look forward to the coming year making this a feature of morning prayers.
Get it. You won’t be disappointed.
God bless you all richly.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
