About this listen

I've lived on this mountain my whole life. For the most part, I've been alone and that's just the way I like it. No annoyances, no people, no noise. That is until she moves into the abandoned house next door. I don't know what her intentions are, but she insists on being friends. So, being the good neighbor I am, I am more than happy to roll out the unwelcome mat for her. She needs to disappear and fast. All I want to do is continue my solitude and send the tiny woman on her way back to wherever she came from.

Ugh, if it was only that easy.

Garrison & Minnie!

I have waited for this book to come out on audio and it was so worth the wait. Nicole Garcia has a writing style that is like coming home for me. This book has a little of everything, from the grumpy hermit to the spunky woman to the wise old uncle. I could not stop listening! Minnie has recently moved to Yaak Montana, getting away from the crazy life she was leading; Garrison who is the only person near her is not happy. He likes his solitude and her intrusion is not welcome. He isn't making life easy, but she does not let it stop her from getting to know him. The two share an unexplained connection and their chemistry is strong. In true Nicole Garcia style, she masterfully weaves a deep, well thought out story that steals your heart, makes you love bears and understand families. I felt like I was right there with Minnie and Garrison. I could feel their love, their heartache and their passion. Every minute gave us something new and led this shifter romance to a wonderful ending.

The narration is what brings this story to life. It's very visual and emotional. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross get it, and use their voices to give us every feeling. Kai's voice for Minnie is perfect, with a stubbornness that will not let up. We know she means business, and then she finds that warmth and passion. Wen plays Garrison with a grumpy, loner feel until he knows what he wants and his voice meets the change. Their duet style is flawless and I love how easily their narration flows together. They are the dream team for this book.

Best MF shifter story ever!

This was a nice surprise, I remember picking it up to listen without reading the blurb and the name didn't click, so I didn't know it was a shifter book Lol If I knew, I probably wouldn't listen at the time.

I can't say this is super unique, but it wasn't a cookie cutter either. I like the way the relantionship progress, it was hate-love WITHOUT insta-love even though they were fated to one another (they didn't know this until about the very end). It was so funny see those two bickering with each other, driving each other crazy. But deep down, they were beginning to like each other. Also, there is no pack or clan, Garrison is a lone shifter bear, grumpy as h*ll with a traumatic past event.

The narration was amazing. I really love Wen Ross voice and narration, pairing him with Kai Kennicott is always a great ideia, they compliment each other :)

- There is a HEA;
- There is NO cheating;
- Medium to Slow-burn;
- NO insta-love;
- Low angst;
- NO miscommunication;
- NO cliffhanger;

I received this audiobook in exchange for a honest review.

Such a wonderful book

Oh how I loved this storyline. The perfect balance of love/hate in the new relationship. These characters are so funny as well. It’s easy to fall in love with them. Fantastic performance from both Kai and Wen.

I love this!

Omgoodness I could not stop listening to this book. I’m so glad I started it on my day off. I was captivated the entire time. I loved the characters and how they all came together in the story even though Minnie & Garrison had a rough start. I wish I would have seen a little more of the bear but I enjoyed it just how it is. I love the narration and how they showed so much feeling in their characters. I definitely recommend this book.

enjoyable

Whilst I am not normally a fan of paranormal/shifter type books I can say that I did enjoy this book. The characters were well suited to each other. Opposites attracting and all that. The duet narration was on point and thoroughly enjoyable adding to the characters and their stories. The only criticism I have was around the heritage of Garrison's parents. Hota mentioned that mum was a bear but dad was not. But later in the book both parents were shot in bear form. I was unclear as to whether I misunderstood the situation or whether it was something in the writing.
