There stood the kingdom of Virelia long ago in a country of perpetual gloom. Virelia was covered in constant darkness unlike other worlds, illuminated softly by the moon and the glittering stars. Growing bright flowers, illuminating their streets with magical lanterns, and sharing stories of the heavenly creatures watching over them, the inhabitants of Virelia had adapted to the darkness. But one myth the story of the Moonlit Guardian both delighted and frightened the people.
Old legend saw the Moonlit Guardian as a ghost bonded to the Silver Vale, a holy woodland where moonlight never faded. The Guardian allegedly shielded Virelia from the dark animals who prowled beyond the valley, those meant to wipe out the remaining traces of light. But nobody had seen the Guardian in millennia, and many thought it was just an ancient tale. That was before the shadows arrived.
Strange beings with empty eyes and whispering whispers slithered into the realm ate the brilliance of the lanterns and made the brilliant flowers wither. People started to panic; the elders understood just one possibility remained they had to locate the Moonlit Guardian.
