I was dead for 13 minutes. I don't remember how I ended up in the icy water, but I do know this - it wasn't an accident, and I wasn't suicidal. They say you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, but when you're a teenage girl, it's hard to tell them apart. My friends love me, I'm sure of it. But that doesn't mean they didn't try to kill me. Does it? 13 Minutes by Sarah Pinborough is a gripping psychological thriller about people, fears, manipulation and the power of the truth.

Summary
Exploring the dichotomy between one's inner and outer self is central to Behind Her Eyes. When a vulnerable woman is drawn into the lives of an enigmatic couple, she finds it hard to differentiate between reality and what truly lies beneath a seemingly perfect exterior.
Don't trust this audiobook.
Don't trust these people.
Don't trust yourself.
And whatever you do, don't give away that ending....
Louise.
Since her husband walked out, Louise has made her son her world, supporting them both with her part-time job. But all that changes when she meets....
David.
Young, successful and charming - Louise cannot believe a man like him would look at her twice, let alone be attracted to her. But that all comes to a grinding halt when she meets his wife....
Adele.
Beautiful, elegant and sweet - Louise's new friend seems perfect in every way. As she becomes obsessed by this flawless couple, entangled in the intricate web of their marriage, they each in turn reach out to her.
But only when she gets to know them both does she begin to see the cracks.... Is David really the man she thought she knew, and is Adele as vulnerable as she appears?
Just what terrible secrets are they both hiding, and how far will they go to keep them?

A bad book about wine and whine
God this was tedious. Cardboard one dimensional characters. Boring repetitive scenarios. Awful awful awful. Laugh out loud twist where should have been suspenseful and then there is the wine. Bringing wine, filling wine, pouring wine, suggesting wine, asking for wine, wondering about wine, feeling guilty about wine. Was glad to have finished which is not how I normally feel about a good book. very poor on all fronts

Never again!
I look for phycological thrillers, where we can delve into weird and disturbed minds, where an author has some insight into how people have become warped and exhibit strange and non typical behaviours. So I looked forward to this reading, even though some of the voices were unbelievably dreadful, and I stuck it out.
But, so disappointing to realise the plot doesn't rely on working through what has caused these disturbed minds, but on one character being able to do 'magic' and shape changing. What a cop out. So disappointing!
Don't waste your time reading this book if you are interested in human phycology or want an understanding of criminal minds. But if you're into the supernatural, it's O.K. for you.
Some of the characters are interestingly drawn and quite real in their human frailties and desire driven extremes, even though some of the voices are so unconvincing and border on chic lit. But my preferences are for real life, and a clever plot.

The mixed reviews intrigued me most
So I decided to go ahead and I’m glad I did. If you don’t mind a bit of supernatural with your mystery/thrillers then this is a great book. There were parts of the book which I felt dragged and it could have done with editing down to be an hour or two shorter but other than that it was a great story well told

Terrible!
I should have listened to Jenni's review. This book is painful to listen to and is quite repetitive. A complete waste of my time, I only listened to the end a) because I was promised 'A brilliant ending' which may have made up for the main story and b) because I had wasted my credit purchasing it. Don't waste your credits or more importantly your time!

Utter Tosh
Would you try another book written by Sarah Pinborough or narrated by the narrators?
The principal narrators by and large made a decent fist of some very poor material although it is a little misleading to list the great Anna Bentinck as one of them when all she does is introduce the chapter headings. As for the author, never again.
What could Sarah Pinborough have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The publicity materials for this book make great play of its "twist" ending. What they omit to mention is that up until that point the plot treads a very well worn path with no particular charm, wit or narrative verve. As the end neared I anticipated the ending but kept thinking "No, she wouldn't go there, would she?" and lo and behold she did. Never mind giving me my money back I'm much more annoyed by the time I wasted on this when I could have been listening to something half way decent.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrators did their best to bring the two dimensional characters to life although the application of Scottish accents was inconsistent. There were at least two other characters described as growing up in Scotland and yet who were portrayed with English accents.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None.
Any additional comments?
Note to self - remember that new books marketed with puffs from other writers (rather than from critics) are generally dire.

Totally engrossing literally couldn't put this down all day.
I pre ordered this and it was waiting for me on my Kindle this morning. I finished it half an hour ago.. I've had it on all day. Well presented. The narrators do a marvellous job and the novel itself is truly gripping. I wasn't sure what to expect and at first thought it was going to be a gritty thriller but the fantasy/horror elements trickled in so subtly I was completely convinced by them and gripped by the characters and the story to the final jaw dropping conclusion. Well worth the purchase price.

Best Twist EVER!!!
Louise has met someonw new, unaware that he is married to Adele, a disturbed woman with a sordid past.
The story is told from the perspwctive of wach of the characters, Louise and Adele. It also goes back into the past to find out about what made Adele the way she is.
The build up in this story was slow (hence only 14 out of 15 stars given) but wow when we reached our destination, did it blow my mind! Even my husband who is not much of a reader/listener stated that the ending made this book epic. Worth the wait, do it!

Thanks goodness I didn't give up....
I'm not one to give up on a book - ever. But, I have a dozen books I haven't listened to yet, and when this one was about 35 minutes in, I thought I might actually give it a miss. I couldn't remember why I had decided to buy the book either, so I thought I'd have a quick look at a review. I only remember seeing "don't trust this book", resisted the temptation to look further, and gave it another go. Well, thank goodness I did. I won't say a word further about the story, but it was worth sticking with!

If I had read the authors bio (Fantasy novelist), read the reviews and ignored the PR copy I wouldn't have considered this book. Begins with an unoriginal 3-way love affair storyline with a wet un-engaging male lead and putters into silly stuff. My bad.
