Summary

This audiobook is all about being in a band in '70s and 80’s and featuring Paul Cooke who rose to fame with the band Sade in 1984. Along with his bass partner from the same city of Hull Paul Denman these two musicians literally took London by storm from 1980 to 1984 accumulating in the album Diamond Life by Sade selling over 10 million copies. To learn more about being in a band in the '70s and '80s, this audiobook is for you as it gives you a unique snapshot into the music industry at that time. This essentially is a story of how two working class lads from a UK Northern Town shaped some of the most hippest and iconic bands, Posers, Pride and then Sade.

Three musicians from Hull that shaped the face of music in the early 1980s from Left to Right Paul Cook (Drums), Stuart Mathewman (sax and guitar), Paul Denman (Bass). The backing band for Pride in London that spawned the hit Smooth Operator and ultimately the band Sade that launched the most famous UK black female artist onto the music scene in 1984 Helen Adu. The boys also had their own Jazz 3 piece outfit called PSP (Paul, Stuart, and Paul) that played in London, Snakebite on the Sade album Diamond Life was an orignal PSP song and an idea of their sound at the time.

The backing band was also known in NYC, USA as the Martini Boys.
