Good conclusion with issues within

Having got through the first two book, I had to get the series concluded. Overall, good tale. All three books at tome got to technical, too much, too often. The core story got lost at times in the technology babble. The writer has good imagination but needs to ease up a bit on the babble. There's no need to impress us in every chapter with buckets of it. Other than that, the third book is also recommended reading or listening.

Enjoyable

I found the book a fitting conclusion to the series. Everything came together to produce a relaxing, uncomplicated experience that filled one's traveling time well.

Good listen but bit less than complete

Overall the trilogy was great books 1 and 2 were better and more believable, the actions of the world to Chineses acts of war would have been harsh and permanent. The last book was a little lost in the plot and felt like the author wanted to get to the end of the trilogy without over thinking it. The performance was great as per the first two books but the story was not finished but I would expect it leaves the door open for another series moving the characters on to bigger and better things.

WOW !! Kept me interested for the whole three book

Not at all like your usual invasion of the earth books and has it's feet a lot in the present day which made it all the more believable. Was a little disappointed that it was America saving the world again with a little help from it's enemies and none of it's friends, but that's because I'm a Brit and the only Brit in the story was killed off in book 1. I did think it could be have developed into a more "the world unites to kick the little green mother fuckers out of the universe " but the author decided otherwise and wrapped up the whole thing very very quickly in the last chapter of book 3. Pity because it was three pieces of quality writing that kept me wanting more right to the end, but unfortunately not beyond the end. That's what keeps me wanting more the U.N. expeditionary force books with Craig Allison. Both have a very witty and detailed writing ith excellent narration that helps you believe in the fiction and helps you picture it all in the mind like a real "movie" as you yanks call them. I was also a little disappointed that the ailiens weren't actually little green mother fuckers but some kind of gas breathing octopus slugs with tentacles. I think a rewrite of the end of the last book and you could of got at least another two out of it and perhaps James Bond could of made an appearance then as well.

The Editor took chucks out

The plot is inconsistent, and incomplete and sub plots or sub archs are referenced started but never concluded or are poorly references in continuity. It is like editor took random chunks out if the story and not put them back or skipped over to the days after the hinted event.

Plus the headline narrative is only in the last few chapters. This means that I ended up expecting a 4th and more but the series got cancelled/halted etc.

Great book

I really enjoyed the whole storytelling and story-line of the book. However I do feel the last few chapters were a bit slap dash and rushed.

Lost all plausibility

I enjoyed the first two books in this series - hard science, generally believable characters (excepting the author's populist view of spies and Chinese) and an interesting plot. However this book appeared to rush to its conclusion, almost as if the author had lost interest. Or didn't know where they were going with the plot. I was left feeling somewhat cheated and the plausibility of once again humanity prevailing was stretched to the limit.

Mark Boyett is a fun narrator, even if I will forever associate him with the ridiculous "Lost Starship" series :-)
