Summary

Book 12 in the Gaunt's Ghosts Series

An enemy prisoner demands to speak to Gaunt, throwing the Tanith First into a murderous web of secrets and lies that could decide the fate of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Follow the intrigue as, even on leave, Gaunt's Ghosts find themselves in trouble... A dangerous enemy prisoner will only speak to Gaunt (who's apparently dead, if Imperial records are to be believed), and the Ghosts find themselves mixed up with mysterious criminal gangs.

THE STORY

The Tanith First have been pulled back from the front line and are enjoying some well-deserved rest – but that is about to end. An enemy prisoner – one of the deadly Blood Pact – wants to betray his masters, but he will only talk to Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt. Can he be trusted, and what exactly does he know? Gaunt must discover the truth and avert a deadly threat to both his own life and to the Sabbat Worlds Crusade itself.

Superb.

This is now installed in my head as one of my favourite audio books, and I have loved all of the Gaunts Ghosts stories leading to this one. Abnett is a great author of the Warhammer 40k world and the Ghosts are one of his best creations.

worth the build up

Stars off as a bit of a slow burner but the pay off is worth it in the end. Expect a tear or two if you've grown to love the Ghosts. There are more to come and sometimes I can't believe old Gaunt is still going!

Bound by Blood

'Blood Pact' by Dan Abnett delivers us familar fans of the Tanith First and Only (Gaunt's Ghosts) with another deligthful entry into the story of the recon regiment and the wider imperial crusade through the Sabbat Worlds. Unlike previous novels, Blood Pact focuses more on political intrigue and the action which can be found far away from the front lines and oncoming assaults by the enemy forces of Urlock Gaur and Anakwanar Sek. The characters were a treat to meet again and follow through this novel, and each one of them was developed even further than previously thought possible. This novel had espionage, intrigue, and even provided readers with a wonderful insight into the Blood Pact's morality, blood magic, culture, and motivations. I look forward to listening to the next installment. Here's to: SALVATION'S REACH!

nice flip of traitor general plot and look at guant before the ghosts.
does the setup for the next arc of the story in an efficient way.
