Love's Labour's Lost

I'm not suggesting that Mr Veste's work is Shakespeare for the 21st century, but his prose, his excellent standards and prolific output surely make him a contender for some kind of award. I love David Murphy and Laura Rossi, both individually and together they are magnificent creations. There is inherent danger in being a friend or relation of DI Murphy, but I thinks the pros of having him in your life greatly outweigh the cons. This is the 3rd book in the Murphy and Rossi series, but manages to remain as fresh and relevant as we have come to expect from this distinguished author. From the opening scene of carnage there is barely a moment to take a breath as our delightful dynamic duo take on the evil lurking in Liverpool and do what's necessary to extinguish it. The entire novel is a fast-paced, high-octane, hold-on-to-your-hats ride and Mr Veste doesn't flag even for a nano-second in his story telling. The powerful voice performance of the gifted Jonathan Keeble is another bonus in this more than generous gift of a book. It gives me much joy to recommend Bloodstream, and any book that is written by the master-author Luca Veste. The pleasure is all mine - you can thank me later!!

Oh the scouse!

A good story, and quite gripping. However, the voices of the main characters, especially Murphy and Harris, ugh. Jonathan Keeble is a splendid reader and I’ve never had cause to criticise him before, but the phlegmy accents of some of the protagonists are almost too much to take, and probably put me off the rest of this series altogether.

Simply brilliant!

I’ve read a couple of other books by this author and they’re equally fantastic. The plot, the characters and the way it all seems so ‘real’ is testimony to this writer’s ability. It is an emotional rollercoaster and action packed. The narrator does an amazing job at capturing the voices just as I’d imagined whilst reading. I 100% recommend this book to any lover or newcomer to crime fiction.

Rollicking good read

Enjoyed this a lot. It was an engaging story although rather obvious, none the worse for that. I listened while I cleared out the garage and hardly noticed how hard I was working. Loved the narration, Jonathan Kernel made all the characters come to life and contributed significantly to my enjoyment.

A real page Turner (if your reading and not listening)

The time is 3.45am and I’ve just finished listening to the excellent narrator Jonathan Keeble telling this brilliant story. Love the series and going to now check if the next one is available yet on Audible. Now I must get some sleep.

Gripping!

Any additional comments?

This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed it very much. It's a little different, well written and really quite exciting. The narration was very good too.

Disappointing

Unlike the first two books this one has a daft storyline over sentimental over dramatic and overlong. The narrator does his absolute best to make it exciting - bless him - but it can't be rescued and to round it all off everyone gets a sugary happy ending with all loose ends tied off. Not recommended.
