About this listen
Call me naïve, but when I was a girl - watching James Bond and devouring Harriet the Spy - all I wanted was to grow up to be a spy. Unlike most kids, I didn't lose my secret-agent aspirations. So as a bright-eyed, idealistic college grad, I sent my resume to the CIA.
Getting in was a story in itself. I peed in more cups than you could imagine, and was nearly condemned as a sexual deviant by the staff psychologist. My roommates were getting freaked out by government investigators lurking around, asking questions about my past.
Finally, the CIA was training me to crash cars into barriers at 60 mph. Jump out of airplanes with cargo attached to my body. Survive interrogation, travel in alias, lose a tail. One thing they didn't teach us was how to date a guy while lying to him about what you do for a living. That I had to figure out for myself.
Then I was posted overseas. And that's when the real fun began.

thinly vieled bragfest
Another auto biography that uses the forum to self congratulate. So many of them on here. Granted I only got to half way thru chapter 4 but couldn't do anymore. interesting tho,, .would have listened to the end if it wasn't as skewed. Great narration.

Excellent...enlightening..
Lindsay is an amazingly down to earth woman with the spirit of an adventurer....and a charming and funny naivety connected to her worldliness. Jennifer was the perfect narrator....made the book even better!

Ok
A realistic, straightforward glimpse into the life of a CIA agent from recruitment to deployment. Negotiating the policies, prejudices and chauvinism within such organisations. Unfortunately, overall it was a tad mundane,

Not quite what I was expecting
Not as exciting as I thought. A bit like the expectations of her career, I guess?

Loved it
Loved the writing and such a fantastic narration.
Got a sense of the challenges of training, the banality of a Case Officer work, paranoia, the frustration of politics. Far from the glamour imagined.
The narration brings the characters to life and would love to hear her again.

Interesting
Good to know even the agents see through the appalling politics eventually! Definitely puts a damper on ‘spying’

shallow, not great
this contains a very shallow, self-centred perspective of a job that many view as a "hero's life". i barely resisted my anger at her petty comments regarding better people than herself, from all over her story. this person, who wrote a book as a cry for attention, also made herself into a selfless saviour in it, but the reality is far from that.
i did not like it.
