About this listen
Stepping into her destiny comes with a price she never expected.
Saxony Cagney counts herself lucky when she wins a position as an au pair in Venice for the summer. It’s her responsibility to take care of two young boys - speak to them in English, make sure they get to their swimming lessons on time. Piece of cake, right?
She forms a strong bond with the youngest boy–Isaia. She also meets two Italian men… both are smart, successful, sexy. So far things are going her way. Who doesn’t like options?
When she discovers Isaia is actually dying, and his mom is trying to keep it a secret from his dad, things get a violent shove into complicated…and then contagious––She’ll never be the same again.
Just when she’s got more on her plate than she can handle, she accidentally gets tangled up with the most powerful crime family in Venice.
Will Saxony survive long enough to learn the secrets of her new abilities, or will they kill her?
Born of Fire can be listened to as a standalone, but is also the second book in The Elemental Origins Series, a non-linear series of captivating YA urban fantasy novels which can be listened to in any order.
This is the updated 5th anniversary edition which includes the novella Pyro, renamed as Part III.
If you like strong female characters, amazing (slightly out-of-control) supernatural abilities, and a touch of romance, then you’ll love A.L. Knorr’s teen fantasy adventure series.

Action packed, strong lead female character
Great books, loved the extra novellas included at the end....feels like I need to hear more about her journey on ....
It’s a young adult book, with a strong female lead, but hey, I’m 40 and I loved it! Great writing, fast paced, action packed. I am looking forward to introducing these books to my daughter also.

Started one of the audio books from
This author by mistake and ended up buying everything I could find. She has an incredible imagination and I loved escaping reality into her made up worlds! There is not a book from A.L. Knorr you would regret getting. Once you like one, you love them all!

Another great listen from A.L Knorr
This is the second book in the elemental series, this time following Saxony’s story.
Saxony has a completely different experience to Targa, and it is great to get to know her a little better. Always fun to see the crossovers between the books as they occur, you will recognise the odd little bit from born of water to help align the timeline.
Gabra Zachman does a great job of narrating, although some of the English accents that she tries to do do sound a little bit like they came from the cast of Oliver! But I’m English and not brilliant at doing accents myself so props to her.
As always really enjoyed having stories read to me, nice to have something to listen to whilst I’m doing my work or driving.

Hard work
I found the first book hard work to get into I kept going with it and glad I did, I didn’t really like the readers voice but I got used to it. I’m glad I kept going because I really enjoyed the whole series.

Great collection
This is one longer story and two shorts. The shorts really compliment the world and I’m really enjoying this whole series. Strong FMC, fire power and a few live interests without a young teenage girl settling down

Another fantastic story
I listened to this in one sitting - got a bit confused when the book finished but there was still a few hours left. Then I realised there were 2 novellas afterwards which relate to the main book.
This is part of the Elementals storyline - the first was Born of Water which mainly featured Targa, a mermaid. At the beginning of the first book, we learn a bit about the Elementals before they go their separate ways during the summer holidays - during which, each of them find out about their true selves.
This book features around Saxony who goes overseas to be an Au Pair for the summer. When she arrives, she finds one of her charges is a very sick little boy, something she wasn't told about. During a particuarly bad encounter, what has been ailing Isiah, is transferred to Saxony - she is now a Fire Mage.
All in all, this is a great book, and shows Saxony coming to grips with her powers and, although she is only 16, she matures quickly with the gift that has been handed to her.
Gabra narrates the story very well and kept me interested in the storyline.
